For the next 40 days, after His resurrection from the dead, Jesus walked among His disciples,

encouraging their hearts and explaining details of their mission now that He would be leaving them. And on the fortieth day, just before returning to Heaven, He told the disciples to return to Jerusalem, saying, Wait for the promise of the Father, until you are strengthened with power from on High! You will receive power after the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses!

Durante os prximos 40 dias, depois da Sua ressurreio dos mortos, Jesus andou entre os Seus discpulos, animando-os e explicando detalhes da misso que Ele ia deixar para eles agora. E no quadragsimo dia, logo antes de ascender ao Cu, Ele disse aos discpulos para voltarem para Jerusalm: "Esperem pela promessa do Pai, at que do Alto vocs fiquem revestidos de poder! Vocs recebero poder quando o Esprito Santo descer sobre vocs, e sero minhas testemunhas!"

The Apostles returned to Jerusalem, and with well over 120 other disciples, stayed all together in an upper room praying and waiting in obedience to Jesus last command. Ten days later an awesome manifestation of Gods power occurred: A sound like the rushing of a mighty wind filled the whole house where they were, and they saw the appearance of many tongues of fire that rested upon every one of them. And they all were filled with the Holy Spirit! Os apstolos regressaram a Jerusalm e com um nmero superior a 120 outros discpulos, permaneceram juntos num sobrado, chamado o cenculo, orando e esperando em obedincia ao derradeiro mandamento de Jesus antes da Sua partida. Dez dias depois ocorreu uma espantosa manifestao do poder de Deus: "Um som semelhante ao de um vento fortssimo encheu toda a casa onde eles estavam e foram vistas por eles muitas lnguas de fogo que pousaram sobre cada um deles. E todos foram cheios do Esprito Santo."

There was a great religious festival going on in the streets of Jerusalem at that time, and visitors from many foreign nations had come for the annual celebration. When the disciples stepped into the streets, they all supernaturally began to speak in the languages of the multitudes visiting Jerusalem that day, yet none of the disciples had ever known before how to speak those languages! The disciples boldly witnessed to all of the crowds about the wonderful news of Gods Love in Jesus. As a result, about 3,000 people received salvation. Naquela ocasio estavam tendo um grandioso festival religioso nas ruas de Jerusalm, e haviam visitantes de diversas naes estrangeiras para a comemorao anual da Festa da Colheita dos Judeus. Quando aqueles 120 discpulos apareceram nas ruas, todos eles comearam, de maneira sobrenatural, a falar nas lnguas das multides que estavam visitando Jerusalm naquele dia. Os discpulos testemunharam audaciosamente para todas as pessoas sobre a notcia maravilhosa do Amor de Deus em Jesus, e Sua mensagem de Salvao, o que resultou na salvao de trs mil pessoas.

Not long afterwards, Peter and John went up together to the temple. A man who had been born lame was being carried to the temple door. Each day he was placed beside this door, known as the Beautiful Gate. He sat there and begged from the people who were going in.

The man saw Peter and John entering the temple, and he asked them for money. Peter said, I dont have any money, but I will give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, get up and start walking. Peter then took him by the right hand and helped him up. At once the mans feet and ankles became strong, and he jumped up and started walking! Quando este homem viu a Pedro e Joo prestes a entrar no templo, pediu-lhes uma esmola. Mas Pedro lhe disse: Eu no tenho nenhum dinheiro para dar, mas vou lhe dar o que tenho: Em nome de Jesus Cristo de Nazar: levante-se e ande! E, puxando-o pela mo direita, Pedro o levantou. No mesmo instante, os seus ps e tornozelos ficaram fortes e, 8 dando um salto, o homem se colocou de p e comeou a andar.

The people saw this man walking and recognized that he was the beggar that sat every day in front of the temple. Everyone was amazed and wondered what had happened. Peter spoke to the huge crowd that had gathered and over 5,000 people got saved that day.

Todas as pessoas o viram andar e reconheceram que ele era o homem que estava sempre pedindo esmolas perto do porto Formoso do templo. Eles ficaram admirados e maravilhados com o que tinha acontecido com ele. Pedro falou enorme quantidade de pessoas que se aproximaram para ver o milagre e mais de cinco mil foram salvos.

In the days that followed, Peter and John faced a wave of persecution from the same wicked religious leaders who had crucified their Savior. But there was no fear, no cowardice, no denial! Peter stood before their councils testifying with such unflinching courage and authority of the Spirit that the Bible says, When they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13)
Nos dias que se seguiram, Pedro e Joo tiveram que enfrentar uma onda de perseguio dos mesmos lderes religiosos mpios que tinham crucificado o seu Salvador, mas no houve medo, no houve covardia, no houve uma negao! Pedro ficou diante da assemblia testificando resolutamente com uma tal coragem e autoridade do Esprito, que a Bblia diz: " Os membros do Conselho Superior ficaram admirados com a coragem de Pedro e de Joo, pois sabiam que eles eram homens simples e sem cultura. Eles reconheceram, ento, que os dois tinham sido companheiros de Jesus." (Atos 4:13.)

The wonderful thing about this story is that you can have this Power too by simply receiving Jesus into your heart, and then being filled with the Power of the Holy Spirit of God! Just pray a simple prayer like the following: Dear Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart. Please forgive me for all the wrongs Ive done, and give me Your gift of everlasting life. Thank You also for the promise of your Holy Spirit. Please fill me with Your Spirit. Amen.
