Welcome and Introductions

Approval of Agenda Motion to approve minutes- Minutes approved by John and Daniela Reports a. Safer Schools to make our schools safer. - This program is developed by the city of Chilliwack to help - a Safer Schools Committee has been formed - Research and data has been collected ongoing to help evaluate the safety for students at our school, including routes taken to and from school. - New over summer signs put up in parking lot and around school - A collaborative planning meeting will be held soon with the Principal (Jeff Hanson), City Police, Greendale Safer School Committee, etc. b. School Planning Committee - meets with Jeff Hanson - A review of the Plan happens every 3 years. This year the plan is up for renewal. - Data of testing and assessments tools will be reviewed and a plan will be formulated - Need 2 more volunteers

c. Parent Education

- Kristen R. is our new PAC representative - Will be in charge of PAC Blog greendalepacinfo@blogspot.com - Can be accessed through the school website. Minutes and Agendas will soon be available on the PAC link on the website.

d. Emergency Preparedness - a bin for emergencies / crisis is stored at the school and stocked with items to keep students at the school for a short period of time in case of emergency until parents or guardians can come to get their children from the school. Information on every student will also be stored in the bin. A letter will be coming home in the next week for parents to fill out and return. - Volunteers needed to help coordinate e. School Lunch - September 28 - Volunteers needed for all School Lunches. We could use your help to simply hand out lunches in the classrooms from 11:15-11:45am

Fruit and Veggie Program - a program put on by the school district to bring in fresh fruit and veggies for students to try. Anne H. will be coordinating again this year.

g. Playground - Massive Fundraising efforts are ongoing to raise money for our school playground that will need to be replaces ASAP. This is a BC wide initiative that will see all wooden structures removed due to wood rot and bug infestation. Our structure at Greendale School could be removed Without much notice and we would be left without this massive part of our playground. - Habitat is the company we have voted on and chosen for the replacement playground. - We are happy to announce that we have received a grant that we applied for from the Chilliwack Foundation for $9,800. We will be applying for more grants in the near future. - Funds raised so far: $26,800 - The PAC has come up with some new ideas this year to hopefully raise more $ with less effort. We understand that fundraising can be tiring on all parties, so we are trying to minimize the tiredness and come up with some different ideas to help with this. Please watch for these new ideas coming soon. Lets keep up the enthusiasm Greendale! We can do this!! h. Treasurer - October 11 PAC Meeting - will be our Budget Meeting - If something purchases something for the PAC on receipt please write on it what its for and also your name. - Gaming Grant a grant is given to the school from the BCLC (BC Lottery Corporation) for sports, music and event at the school - $20 per student is allocated.

Principal - 155 Students are currently enrolled at Greendale New Grade 3-4 teacher Miss Deb Matheny - New Grade 3-4 teacher: Miss Deb Matheny - Peer Helper Program (Grade 4, 5, 6) - Miss Matheny will be heading up this program this year. - Application forms have gone out to all Grade 4, 5, 6 students - PAC budgets some funds for the Peer Program - Terry Fox Run - Assembly: Friday, September 21 (11am) - Coin Drive starts next week - Magazine Sales - Due October 1st - Mrs. Lowney - There has been a switch of roles between Mrs. Lowney and Mr. Hanson. Mrs. Lowney will now be the Grade 5/6 teacher. - Class counts and designations have to be in to the District by the end of September. Class sizes are capped at 30 students per class. Classes are now officially closed. Students are not allowed to change classes, with the exception of new kids enrolling in the school. - Community School Meeting (AGM) Sept. 20, 7pm all welcome
