New Hampshire Polling

_________________________________________________________________________ Democrat and former Senate Majority Leader Maggie Hassan holds a healthy lead over Republican Ovide Lamontagne in the race for New Hampshire Governor. The race stands at 49 percent of voters supporting Hassan, while 43 percent of voters support Lamontagne. Hassan maintains a similarly strong advantage over Lamontagne with the inclusion of libertarian candidate John Babiarz: 44 percent for Hassan, 39 percent for Lamontagne, and 5 percent for Babiarz. New Hampshire voters have overwhelmingly favorable opinions of Democratic incumbent Governor John Lynch and strong belief that that the state is moving in the right direction under his leadership. Sixty-seven (67) percent of voters have a favorable opinion of Governor Lynch and 63 percent believe he is doing a good job as Governor. Fifty-four (54) percent of voters believe that the state is going in the right direction. Hassan has a strong advantage among women, winning a majority of their support and commanding a 10 point lead. Lamontagne narrowly edges out Hassan among men. The survey was of 500 likely general election voters conducted using professional interviewers between October 8 and October 10. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.4 percentage points. The sample was pulled from the Catalist voter file of those who voted in the 2008 or 2010 general elections. The file models the partisanship of the voters, and the sample average falls between the averages of voters who participated in the 2008 or 2010 general elections. Party registration was 29 percent Democratic, 33 percent Republican, and 38 percent unaffiliated voters. Party identification was 28 percent Democratic, 23 percent Republican, and 46 percent independent. ###
