The Hobbit, by J. R. R. Tolkien, tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, a comfortloving hobbit, whos thrust into an unwanted quest for dragon treasure with a group of dwarves. He faces all manner of hardships, from orcs to hostile elves to giant spiders.

O grupo de aventureiros finalmente chega ao seu destino: o esconderijo de Smaug, o Drago, nas montanhas. Bilbo entra na caverna do drago atravs de uma porta secreta na encosta da montanha. Finally the group of adventurers reaches their destination: the mountain lair of Smaug the Dragon. Bilbo enters the dragons lair through a secret door in the mountainside. All the dwarves are waiting outside, and Bilbo has to face the dragon alone. As he makes his way through the dark tunnel, he hears what sounds like a kettle bubbling on the stove. That sound grows into what sounds like a giant cat purring. Suddenly Bilbo realizes that hes hearing the sound of the dragon snoring in the cave.

Ele fica petrificado. Tudo o que quer voltar, e quase faz isso; mas ento resolve seguir em frente. Tolkien escreve, Seguir adiante a partir dali foi o seu maior ato de coragem. Bilbo is petrified. He wants nothing more than to turn back, and he nearly does; but then he decides to go on. Tolkien writes, Going on from there was the bravest thing he ever did. The tremendous things that happened afterward were as nothing compared to it. He fought the real battle in the tunnel alone, before he ever saw the vast danger that lay in wait.

These scary challengesthese dragons wont always seem like a big deal to anyone but you. Perhaps youre struggling with a moral dilemma. Perhaps you deal with excessive shyness. Perhaps you need to forgive someone. These personal challenges can require just as much courage as facing down a real dragon.

A coragem simplesmente se recusar a se deixar derrotar por si mesmo. s vezes, nosso sucesso atrapalhado por circunstncias externas, e honestamente, fcil colocarmos a culpa de nossos fracassos nessas coisas. Porem a verdade que na maioria das vezes somos derrotados por nossos prprios hbitos, atitudes e mentalidades negativos, ou simplesmente pelo medo do desconhecido. Coragem ter peito para enfrentar qualquer coisa que o esteja impedindo de progredir. perceber que voc o responsvel por si mesmo, e recusar-se a se permitir fugir de fazer o que certo.

Courage is simply this: refusing to let yourself defeat yourself. Its easy to blame our failings on outside stuff. But the truth is that far more often were defeated by our own negative habits, attitudes, mindsets, or simply the fear of the unknown. Courage is the guts to deal with whatever is holding you back. Its realizing that you are responsible for you, and refusing to give yourself room to wiggle out of doing whats right.

Depois que pede para Deus lhe dar coragem, tem que escolher usar essa coragem. Lembre-se que se achar que no tem tanta coragem no momento, no tem problema. Coragem muitas vezes simplesmente dar um passo aps o outro, mesmo que minsculos, mas adiante, avanando. Cada vez que fizer uma escolha corajosamesmo se for algo simplesvai fortalecer a sua coragem. Once youve asked God for courage, you have to choose to use it, even if you dont feel courageous. Remember, if you dont have a ton of courage right now, thats okay. Often courage is simply putting one foot in front of the other, taking small, sometimes even tiny, steps forward. Every time you make a brave choice even if its a little oneyoure strengthening your courage. Then, when bigger challenges come, youll have the courage to tackle them.

Bilbo estava tomando coragem, pouco a pouco, ao longo de sua jornada. Ele lutou contra inimigos assustadores e venceu. Enfrentou problemas difceis e encontrou solues. So choose to face your dragons boldly. If you face challenges with courage, youll be victorious.
