Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Resolution No. 37 Authors: Senator Autumn Lewis, Senator Alex Marino Sponsors: Senator Roxanne Hazelwood, Senator Lauren Rogers, Senator Madeleine Forrest A Resolution to Support Current University of Arkansas Policy Regarding Concealed Carry Weapons Whereas, The University of Arkansas currently provides a safe learning environment to all students; and University of Arkansas Chancellor G. David Gearhart and other administrators oppose concealed carry on campus; and The University of Arkansas Police Department does not support allowing concealed carry weapons on campus; and Many faculty members wish to maintain the current policy; and University of Arkansas groups that wish to keep concealed carry guns off of the University of Arkansas campus have received an outpouring of support from students; then The Associated Student Government supports the current written policy that bans concealed carry weapons from the University of Arkansas campus; and The Associated Student Government requests that legislators for the State of Arkansas respect the wishes of University of Arkansas administration, students, faculty, and staff, and oppose any legislation that would mandate a change in the current concealed carry policy for university and college campuses; and Copies of this legislation shall be presented to members of the Arkansas Legislature and to the leadership of the University of Arkansas System.
