The twelfth annual Dr. and Mrs. Michael A. Gerber Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Dr. George K. Michalopoulos, Chairman of the Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Michalopoulos is a graduate of the Athens School of Medicine and has served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences and Interim Dean for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. An avid researcher, Dr. Michalopoulos has been widely published in peer reviewed journals. TRIBUTE Former Chairman, Dr. John Krause was recently honored for distinguished service as a pathology educator by ASCP that bestowed upon him the H.P. Smith Award. Outstanding achievements in imparting the knowledge of pathology aside, Dr. Krause successfully faced the challenge of rebuilding the TUHSC Pathology Department, Residency Program, and Hospital Laboratories after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. In 2009, Dr. Krause joined the faculty of Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where he began their first hematology fellowship program. In addition to many publications, Dr. Krause has likewise educated over 250 residents in the study of Pathology.
