Two awards ($1,250 each) for students enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program for the Fall 2014 semester. Each scholarship will be awarded based on meeting all guidelines for eligibility, accuracy of application, and quality of essay. Scholarship award will be disbursed by October 1, 2014, pending maintained enrollment.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS MUST: Currently reside within the District-recognized boundaries of Bloomingdale; Be a member (or have a parent/guardian who is a member) of the Bloomingdale Civic Association at the time of award AND/OR be a student of McKinley or Dunbar H.S.; Have maintained a 2.5 or above grade point average for the most recently completed academic year; Be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program for the Fall 2014 semester.
APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE: Completed answers (typed) to application questions (below); Two letters of reference/recommendation (preferably one from a teacher/counselor and one from a non-relative DC resident); Official school transcript; 800-word (typed) essay expressing: Explanation for why applicant is most deserving recipient of Scholarship Award AND Description of current community service commitment(s) AND Vision for college and long-term personal goals.
