INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Orlando, The City Beautful, at the heart of Florida, at the crossroads of Northern Ameri-
can, Latn-American and Caribbean cultures. We want to welcome the athletes of all Americas at the Pan
American and ParaPan American Games in 2023, for the frst tme in the United States since 1987.
Orlando ofers the perfect combinaton of a warm weather, a large enough populaton (but not too
large, with just over 2 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area), a range of existng world-class sport
venues, an important number of hotel rooms (144,000 in 2012) to accommodate both the media and visi-
tors, and an internatonal airport.

THE GAMES
We plan to host the Pan American Games over a period of 17 days, startng with the Opening Cere-
mony on Friday, July 7th and ending on Sunday, July 23rd. This has the advantage of being the least busy
period of the US sports calendar, with all major professional leagues on a break for all or part of the games.
This will give the games the media exposure they deserve.
The Para Pan American Games would take place over a period of 8 days, startng with the Opening
Ceremony on Friday, August 4th and ending on Friday, August 11th.

We plan to host the games in venues located in four clusters across the Orlando region, taking ad-
vantage of the existng sport infrastructures. The Main Cluster, located around the existng Orange County
Conventon Center and the new Pan American Sports Park, will be home to 16 sports and the Main Media
Center. The University Cluster, located on the University of Central Florida campus, at 30 minutes by road
from the Main Cluster, will host 10 sports as well as the Athletes Village. The Wide World Of Sports Clus-
ter, located on Walt Disney Worlds property, 38 minutes away from the Athletes Village and 13 minutes
from the Main Cluster, will be home to 9 sports. The Downtown Cluster, located in Central Orlando and
home to 8 sports and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, is 18 minutes away from the Athletes Village
and 15 minutes from the Main Cluster. Additonal venues will be located in Orlando, Kissimmee, Lake
Picket, Lake County, and the Tampa Bay Area.
