CCU began in 1914 as the Denver Bible Institute, with two students taught by one teacher in several rented

200 S. Garland Street buildings. Denver Bible grew to become Denver Bible College, Rockmont College in 1949, and then

Northglenn Center/Global Online In 2009, CCU considered building a new and larger main campus on 100 acres of open space zoned for

Athletics - College of Undergraduate Studies


CCU competes primarily in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, one of the
largest and most competitive NCAA Division II conferences in the nation. In 2007,
the University also became a Division-I member of the National Christian College
Athletic Association. In recent years, CCU has advanced to the NCAA national
basketball tournament and golf super regionals, and the NCCAA baseball and
basketball national championships. CCU is also a two-time winner of the RMAC
Sportsmanship Cup since the award was introduced in 2006.

President – William L. Armstrong
Bill Armstrong served for 18 years in the nation’s capitol—six in the
House of Representatives and 12 as a U.S. senator. He was a member
of the Senate Banking, Senate Finance, and Senate Budget committees and
for six years was chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee. A
successful businessman, he started or purchased four mortgage banking firms
and was formerly chairman of Cherry Creek Mortgage Company, which grew
4,000 percent under his guidance. Armstrong has been a director of six public
companies and chairman/owner/operator of 13 private companies, including
radio and television stations, a daily newspaper, investment firms, a real-estate
brokerage company, and a title insurance company. He is the chairman of
both the Denver-based Oppenheimer Funds and software developer Blueberry
Systems, director of oil and gas drilling contractor Helmerich & Payne, and
was for 17 years a board member of Campus Crusade for Christ.

During his years in the Senate, Armstrong established a reputation as a principled, issue-oriented
CCU Main Campus legislator and was prominently “mentioned” as a potential candidate for the U.S. presidency or vice

in the Senate, pointing out that his decision not to run in 1990 came despite the fact that “reelection was

Dr. Larry Crabb is a well-known psychologist, conference and seminar
