What kind of media institution might

distribute your media product and why?
The type of media institution our film is going to be will
be a TV movie. I believe this because our film is a low
budget film so I cannot relate the same way to other
horror movies like ‘Saw’, ‘Halloween’ or ‘Texas Chainsaw
Massacre’ because of the editing techniques that have
been used and the props/technical effects that are used
through out. Although, our film does link to a mainstream
institution as our film is available to the general public
instead of a Hollywood based film. Linking in with this I
believe that our film can become an art house film as
once it has grown popular by viewings of the TV it can
progress to art house or maybe cinemas.
Our film can be distributed by production
companies like 20th century fox and
Paramount because our film is an
independent film and these types of films
are the ones that are shown by these
production companies. It has the ability to
make large profits because of the type of
audience that would be interested in and
would mainly be successful in America as
our film is a purely British film.
Our film can be applicable to a mass audience but to
start with, with a small audience as it is an independent
film and wont be advertised as much as Hollywood films.
Once viewed and shown in picture/art house I believe
our film can progress from a smaller audience to a mass
audience as the type of horror film it is is popular as it
can be based on a real life event and more and more
horror films ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, ‘Open Water’
and ‘The Haunting in Connecticut’ are based on real life
evens and they are really popular with the audience of
horror films.
Our film would be released as horror is the most
popular genre out of the lot and because it can
be based on a real life event I believe it would
make the film even more popular. Merchandise I
believe can not be offered to the public as
making merchandise for this film would not be
beneficial as hardly any/none would be sold at
all as our film is not a Hollywood film so not
going to be a worldwide success.
Distribution for our film will be available in multiple ways.
Internet sites like Amazon and Play will be our leading
distribution point for selling our film. ITunes can also play
a part in distributing our film as they do sell not well
known films to the audience and are advertised on
websites like facebook, myspace, twitter etc… to reel in
the audience and promote the selling's of ‘LessonLearnt’.
Aswell as internet, shops like blockbuster will be a good
source to distribute our film as they also sell the
mainstream/art house type of films also allowing the
public to rent the films for a couple of days.
