MAY 12, 2010, NM COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC LANDS

Polling Methodology: Automated phone dialing survey using established
demographic methodological standards to likely voting Democratic registered
households with a known history of voting in primary elections.
Surveys were conducted using this method on May 12th, 2010 between 7 pm and 9 pm.
During this period, 465 interviews were conducted among likely voters in the upcoming
June 1st Democratic primary election.
As is done routinely in surveys, results were weighted, or adjusted, to ensure that
responses accurately reflect the population's makeup by factors such as age, sex,
region and other established demographic standards and variables.

The margin of sampling error for the surveys conducted is +/- 5.22% with a 95% level of
confidence for the 352 interviews conducted in the Commissioner of Public Lands ballot
test question.

Survey key question wording: “If the Democratic primary election for New Mexico
Commissioner of Public Lands was held today, would you vote for Ray Powell, Harry
Montoya or Sandy Jones?” Respondents were given the option to select “undecided”
as an answer to the ballot question.
