    Honoring a Life of Heroic Actions We are proud to announce that our own DCOB Director and Oak Park native Matt Harrington was awarded a Resolution by The City Council of Chicago for his heroic actions over the past decade and a half for his actions affecting so many people lives. Over the past 15 years Matt has provided CPR at less three times, rescued an individual from burning 4 story building and more recently Matt was a Kidney donor in 2005 and 2006 Matt came to the aid a man who’s Ford SUV caught on fire, Matt grab a fire extinguisher from the Enterprise car rental office in Presidential Towers. Matt then ran to help evacuate the driver and keep the fire at bay until the CFD could arrive and properly extinguish the burring SUV You would think that would be enough for one-man heroics efforts during a lifetime However, no on Mothers Day of 2007 while on his way to a Mothers Day dinner at a local downtown restaurant, Matt notices a young man in front of CTA Head Quarts being attack by four men he ran across Lake Street. Throwing one of the assailants into the windows and then casing the four men south down Jefferson Street Where the four spit off from each other and only temporarily escaped. Later that afternoon the Police caught two of the assailants, while walking back from dinner that evening, CTA Security informed Matt that his efforts did not go in vain. We our proud and honored about Matt’s accomplishments and heroic efforts and we are very glad to have him as a key member of our team.

    Harrington's heroism

    Oak Park native Matt Harrington was recently the subject of a City Council of Chicago resolution recognizing his heroic
    actions over the past 15 years. Currently director of Democratic Citizens of Berwyn, Harrington has provided CPR three
    times, rescued an individual from a burning building, donated a kidney and come to the aid of a man whose car caught on
    fire. On Mother's Day 2007, he also came to the rescue of a young man being attacked by four assailants in front of CTA
    headquarters.
