Plans underway for new connection

As plans for the Woodside Road and Highway 101 inter-

change project roll forward, Redwood City planners are imag-
ining a path for cyclists and pedestrians to go along with it.
Expected to ease access to the city and provide relief to
the congestion on Redwood City roads, the interchange
improvements recently moved from their environmental
assessment phase into the design phase, which city project
manager Paul Krupka said could take up to 30 months. With
construction on the interchange slated to start and end no
earlier than 2020 and 2023, respectively, planners are hop-
ing to begin work on a street-level bicycle and pedestrian
path that would connect trails and businesses on the citys
east side with its core.
The city is interested in at least considering whether its
practical and feasible to build the bikeway project in
advance of the overall interchange project, said Krupka.

Thought for the Day

We are not afraid to entrust the
American people with unpleasant
facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies,

is afraid to let its people judge the truth
