Jenny’s Parent/Character Change

During our auditioning, we decided that it would be more fitting to have a male
character play Jenny’s parent. This is because a male character will give a more
authoritative feeling to the scene in which he is telling off Jenny. Because of this
change, we have created a new character profile for the character.

The character’s name is Paul. He is Jenny’s step dad, and has been for three years.
He lives with Jenny and her mum in the Walthams, however Jenny’s mum is away on
holiday, leaving Jenny in her step dad’s care for the week.

This character also adds ethnic variety to the soap, as he is Afro Caribbean.

We have chosen for Paul to wear a red shirt

with dark jeans. This look is quite smart-casual
to show his authority in the piece, whilst still
showing he is a casual, average character in
the soap. The shirt is red to connote the
character’s anger in the scene.

This character is similar to Ian Beale from Eastenders as he is quite an authoritative

character over his step daughter in the storyline. The storyline we are using is also
similar to one of the ones he is involved in, in Eastenders, as it involves a party which
gets out of hand.
