Our College & its Vision
The College Committee headed by Sri Samineni
Viswanadham, President & Correspondent along with other
Governing Body members founded Smt.G.S.College in
Jaggayyapet, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1968
with a noble aim to cater to the higher educational needs of
the rural youth in this underdeveloped region in the West
Krishna and make them globally acceptable, competitive and
employable; to impart affordable education in arts, commerce,
sciences and management courses in this rural and backward
area to all the marginalized sections of the society; to
disseminate knowledge and establish a knowledge society; and
to inculcate a value system among students and make them
responsible future citizens of the country.
The courses offered in this college are Inter, U.G & P.G.
courses in various disciplines. It has excellent infrastructural
facilities like well-equipped labs, well-stacked library, spacious
class rooms, the internet, the language lab and vast playground.
Above all, the college has a tempting ambience conducive to
learning.
About Jaggayyapet
Jaggayyapet is a small municipal town and it is 4 kms
away from Chillakallu which lies on the Highway No.9
connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada. It is surrounded by
several holy places like Lord Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy
Temple, Vedadri, Lord Venkateswara swamy temple,
Tirumalagiri, Bhavani Mukteswaraswamy Temple, Muktyala and
Sri Lakshmi Tirupathamma – Gopaiah Swamy Temple,
Penuganchiprolu. It has become an industrial hub with a large
number of cement factories and several other related industries
which have brought a recognition for the town at the national level.
Department Profile
Like other departments, the Dept. of Political Science
was also born in 1968 in this college. It was first headed by Sri
K.Lakshminarayana, M.A., B.L. who became a popular teacher
with his students. Since his retirement Dr. M.Lakshminarayana,
M.A., Ph.D., has been steering the dept. as its head
successfully, participating in various college activities. By
organizing guest lectures on Combating Terrorism,
Information Act, Missing Girl, World March etc., to create
an awareness among students in connection with various
occasions, he has brought laurels to his department. Presently
he has been working on a minor project entitled “Performance
& Problems of Women Sarpanches in Krishna Dist.” He
always feels proud to have Prof. C.V.Raghavulu, Former Vice-
Chancellor, A.N.U as his career guide
About the Seminar :
The Dept. of Political Science and Public Administration
in educational institutions plays a vital role in Indian
Politics and Administrative Services. The aim of the
department is to produce sincere and honest politicians
and bureaucrats and to push the country up the
development ladder. On one occasion Former president
of India Abdul Kalam said that India was able to stand
first among developed countries in respect of development
in every field but corruption was standing in the way.
Similarly Former Governor of A.P. Dr. C. Rangarajan felt
that corruption was deep-rooted and the people at the
helm of affairs and in responsible positions were addicted
to bribery in cash or kind. As such there is an urgent need
for revolt against this social evil.
In order to discuss this infectious and cancerous evil and
find out the eradicating measures, the Department of
Political Science is organizing a National Seminar on
“Political Corruption in India” on 20th & 21st January 2011.
So the elite and intelligentsia of the society, the faculty in
the universities, colleges & research scholars are invited
to present their views and show ways and means of driving
away this evil from our knowledge society

The topics to be covered are :
• Corruption among Politicians
• Corruption in the Bureaucracy
• SEZ & PPP etc.
• Anti-corruption Agencies
Call for Papers
Papers on the above themes are invited along with an
abstract, one in hard copy and one in soft copy in M.S.
Word, Times New Roman 12 point by the organizing
secretary, latest by 5th January 2011. Selected papers
will be published in book form. Papers may also be e-
mailed. Paper presenter is requested to send his / her
passport size photo.
