DDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE USING EPHESIANS 2:11-22
A world in which relationships are marked by freedom, justice and peace is at the heart of
the Bible’s vision. In Ephesians 2:11-22, Jesus breaks down the separating wall, reconciling
those near and far. Today, this reconciliation and peace is broken because the U.S. and other
affluent, industrialized nations have generated the vast majority of the harmful carbon emissions
that cause climate change. World Environment Day is an opportunity to act to protect the diversity
of species in our intricate web of creation – vital to human life and food security – by addressing
climate change in partnership with vulnerable communities. (Learn about adaptation funding at
www.churchworldservice.org/adaptationfunding.)

D
EVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF HOW CLIMATE
CHANGE AFFECTS FOOD SECURITY
Climate change affects biodiversity and food security
because plants cannot quickly adapt to changes in temperature
and availability of water. In Pakistan, the effects of climate
change and climate variability have caused low rainfall in some
areas – precipitating water shortages for drinking and irrigation.

A
SK WHAT YOU CAN DO ALONG WITH OTHERS
CWS is working with partners in Pakistan to teach
vulnerable communities to get the water they need to
grow food, save seeds for the next season in community seed
banks and adapt their agricultural practices – such as, by
growing mustard which requires less water than other crops.

ARTICIPATE IN THE ENOUGH FOR ALL CAMPAIGN
The Enough for All campaign promotes just and ecologically sustainable development by
using proactive, community-led approaches to address climate change. (Learn more at:

T
AKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ADVOCATE FOR ENOUGH FOR ALL
As we honor God’s creation and endeavor to live responsibly on the planet we all share,
we can advocate for sufficient funds to help vulnerable developing countries adapt to the
climate changes already occurring. (Learn how at www.churchworldservice.org/earthdayadvo.)
