It shouldn’t be up to citizens to police the proffers! This is why there is an

elected town council and professional staff, and a lawyer that the town pays a
lot of money to. Even worse than the destruction of the barn is the sheer Join Our
incompetence and/or crooked collusion on display here by the town. This has Email List

Where were all you legal eagles when the rezoning and special exceptions were
up for review, and you had the chance to speak out about these horrible proffer
commitments you are so quick to denounce and lay the blame for at the feet of
the Council??? Hmm. If you were as interested then - when it REALLY

How easy it is to sit on your duff when the work is being done, and then

relatively local and tied in with the good old boys.

Blown Out of Proportion…ignorance is not something that you should publish.

The Cole property has always been a beautiful, peaceful, welcoming entrance Summer 2010 Coming
Camps 2011 Home & Garden Soon
into Purcellville. What Purcellville has allowed to happen to the town is
sickening. (AND they want to disrupt the Brown’s farm, too!?) Citizens of
Purcellville should be ashamed to keep voting for the people that “serve”.
However, by your comments, perhaps that is the way these citizens want to be
served and represented? And by the way, there are absolutely NOT 400-500
more barns like it in Loudoun County. Farmers cannot afford to keep these
structures in good condition :0(

And I will repeat what was said, Alan Cochran who I don’t know personally,
but do know some of his work and he is the right person to oversee this entire
operation. Alan should of been brought in from the start. And what a joke how
all this started, total stupidity from all involved how this came all about.

Fri, Apr 08 at 07:49 AM by Loudoun Insider:

But this barn was supposed to be carefully dismantled and rebuilt as part of a
proffer. Oops (to borrow the ridiculous Purcellville Gazaette headline), I guess
it didn’t have to be carefully dismantled because the town had absolutely no
plan in place for how this was to occur. They didn’t happen until after this
“accident”. Yes, losing the barn like this is a travesty, but even worse is the
“process” on display.

Blown Out of Proportion - How would you feel if your house caught on fire and
burned down? The country has millions of homes like yours. Would it not be
worth any emotionalism? Deep breath…

Thu, Apr 07 at 09:29 PM by Blown Out of Proportion:

Uhhh, it’s a barn, and Western Loudoun has perhaps 400 - 500 like it. I
realize it was quaint but I’m not really sure its worth all the emotionalism. It
will all be fine. Deep breath everyone.

Have to agree with “Ashamed to be in Purcellville”

Public outrage (for a little while) is figured into the price these developers and
their complicit government lackeys come up with on a project. Each and every
time they expect some outrage, express regrets, and then head on off to the
bank with the prize(s) they’ve been given by politicians who sell us out just so
they can seem like big shots at little meetings.

Disgusting, yes, and Bob Lazaro is a perfect embodiment of what I’m talking
about.

Thu, Apr 07 at 06:48 PM by RP McMurphy:

Alan Cochran is a fine man and the right person for the job. They should have
tapped his expertise BEFORE the idiot contractors went all Godzilla on that
beautiful barn. I’m very interested to see the terms of “dismantling” the house
and silo, as Richard Lake previously stated that those two structures could be
moved without being dismantled. The current town council is a shameful lot.
What was the last major development in town that wasn’t accompanied by the
destruction of an important historical or environmental feature?

Thu, Apr 07 at 04:59 PM by Ashamed to be in Purcellville:

Don’t believe anything out of Bob Lazaro’s mouth. All of these safeguards
should have been in place BEFORE THEY TORE THE BARN DOWN!!!!!!!
That lousy $5,000 in fines and week long shut down is nothing, and that barn
will never be the same again. What a filthy town Purcellville is. Lots of nice
people but they get duped into voting for these bozos every time.
