 Howdoes your media product represent particular social groups?

My music magazine has used the normal language an average teenager would hear of
and speak with to other teenagers. In my magazine they are represented as stylish
modern and very talented people. The music they listen to is categorical some prefer
to listen to classical or Indie whereas others like rock but most people like to listen to
RnB and Hip hop and Grime.

Mise En Scene

The model I used had to represent the normal grime artist and to do this I made sure
my model wore a nice hat and stylish clothing which is iconic to a good grime artist
who is what people would see when they look at the front cover. In the contents pages
it was crucial that we see the faces of the people featuring in the magazine along with
an editorial. The double page spread is an iconic interview which shows the true life
of a grime artist and allows them to get up and personal and show their actual attitude
which is stereotypical of modern day teenagers.

Other ways that I have represented young people is by using colloquialism but informally. In my
double page spread I have used urban terms as there are many meanings for one word and it could
cause confusion amongst the audience who use Standard English. For example I would use words
like “fam” however it is not very easy to comprehend for people who always use Standard English as
it wouldn’t really apply to them.
