Car vandals strike four in string of vandalism in Sterling

Monday, May. 23 by Laura Peters | 12 comments | Email this story

Car vandals hit Sterling yet again over the weekend of May 21, tagging cars with the number
‘68’, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Cars in the areas of North York, West Nettle Tree and South Ironwood roads and North Amelia
and South Hoga streets in Sterling were reported being vandalized between 6 and 9 p.m.

“We’re still hoping someone from the public can come forward and tell us the meaning of ‘68’,”
Loudoun County Sheriff’s spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

Two cars were vandalized on the weekend of May 10 in Ashburn and Sterling. Prior to that, 15 to
20 cars were damaged on the weekend of April 30 in Ashburn and the same amount of cars
during the weekend of May 7 in Sterling.

There were also several cases reported on May 21 of car tires being slashed and windows of cars
being smashed in the Sterling area that officials are unclear if they are directly related to the ‘68’
vandals.

Troxell also said that there is no indication that this is a gang-related incident and is most likely
juveniles. Most Popular in News

Stay
Look, they might not be a “gang”, but it is time to classify them as one. You have Connected
multiple occasions of vandalism where they are “tagging” the same thing. If
these were “13”, they would be calling in the SWAT team.

Maybe it is some upper middle-class punks, but why not pretend they aren’t and

Maybe they’re illegals and they’re upset that they have to share their rented

After following these string of articles i dont understand why the public keeps
saying it is only bored kids. It could be adults too. Maybe the significance is they
will tag 68 cars. Who knows….

Maybe LCSO should question kids or send our a survey at area High Schools to
find out what 68 means and who might be at the heart of the spray painting. At Weekly Hello Loudoun Taste
the same time, offer a reward leading to an arrest. I’m sure any kids that know Homes Guide County of Loudoun

somebody else’s expense.

Might want to take some cops off of the “ticketing helmetless kids” patrol for this
one. Let the liberal hand-wringing commence.

Check with the school board. Maybe some kid was transferred here recently,
who lived along Route 68? Sounds like the kid is on foot. So the area of concern
is local. Maybe match it up with the kids relatives in the area in which they are
floating around from house to house. Obviously a kid who is rebelling. No gang
uses 68. No kid born in 68. No sports star uses 68. Only song is a punk song
from the 90’s. The kids needs 68 @ss whoopings!
