COLUMBA CATHOLIC CHURCH July 3, 2011 Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

SAN DIEGO

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Saturday, July 9th, 8:45 am-3:30 pm, Daily Chapel
What does one actually do during Adoration? It means that you have some time alone with Jesus to pray your favorite prayers, read the Bible, contemplate acts of faith, hope, charity, thanksgiving, reparation, pray the rosary, or do any type of prayerful devotion that suits you before the Lord. You can just sit and say nothing, simply keeping Him company, just as you would with a dear friend. Take time from your busy schedule for a few precious minutes of quiet conversation with Our Lord.

Pastors Corner ~
REAL PRESENCE The celebration of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ or Corpus Christi last weekend remind us of the great and awesome reality of our giftedness as Catholics in the REAL PRESENCE of Jesus Christ in every Eucharistic celebration. Therefore, our encounter with the Lord in the Mass should make us aware not only of the gift of His Presence but also our responsibility to make ourselves worthy to be in His loving presence and much more to be worthy to receive Him in our body and soul. This requires our sincere preparation for the Mass in different ways: Internally, through our faith in God, our repentance of our sins and availing of the sacrament of Reconciliation; Externally, through proper decorum, which includes proper attire, posture, participation, attention and disposition before, during and after the Eucharistic liturgy. The Mass is an encounter with God the Supreme Being who deserves nothing but the BEST in us. TRUE FREEDOM IN CHRIST As this great country celebrates Independence and Freedom Day, let us not forget that Freedom is a gift from God through the ultimate and loving sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. The heroes of history, the great men and women who sacrificed everything to obtain our freedom, embraced the value of a higher good than selfish benefits, that is, love for others. This same love is at the center of Christs teachings. True freedom is not the right to do what we want but to enjoy this gift from God with our responsibility to use it for the good of everyone.

Please pray for the following who are ill, their families and those who care for them, especially ~
