No American who saw it will ever forget the clenched-fist salute deliv
ered by Communist Lee Harvey Oswald shortly after his arrest at Dallas
for the murder of President John F. Kennedy. Here was a brazen Commu
nist agent, trained at Minsk in the U.S.S.R. and active in Communist
affairs across America, signaling to the world that the assassination of
President Kennedy had been a Communist project. It was a signal as cer
tain, in its way, as the stiffly raised palm that preceded the Nazi sieg hefl!
The Communists' clenched-fist salute has for years been a symbol of
revolution. It has been the colophon of revolutionary publications from
Vladivostok to Berkeley, and is now worn as a Red badge of courage by
the young Comrades who march and riot in our streets_ It has even been
adopted by the terrorists of the Communist Black Panther Party, who
supplement its display by chanting "Power to the People," a phrase lifted

Yet, the clenched-fist salute has been variously interpreted by Amer
ica's "Liberal" pundits as signifying "Peace" or "Brotherhood" or "Black
Power." The New York Times, for example, often carries photos of Com
rades giving the Red salute, but refuses to identify it.
