Inova Loudoun Hospital celebrated the $32 million redevelopment project of its Cornwall campus in Leesburg July 11. The $32 million project doesnt actually break ground, so members of the community took bricks and laid them by the building to signify the new facelift for the building. Were not actually breaking any ground at all, were doing some brick laying instead, said Randy Kelley, CEO of Inova Loudoun Hospital. Kelley said that the Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital donated $1 million to the redevelopment campaign. The project is expected to take 18 months to complete with two phases. Within the first phase there will be a renovation and construction of the new state-of-the-art emergency department that includes private rooms and trauma rooms. The hospital also increases its emergency department from 9,539 square feet to 12,823 square feet. Also part of the first phase is the addition of a new lab, outpatient imaging enhancements including an additional CT scanner, a new brick facade on the 1974 building and upgraded space for both the Loudoun Community Free Clinic and the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center. Phase 1 is to be completed in 2012. We are approaching Inova Loudoun Hospitals sentinel year. We are preparing to celebrate a century of providing nonprofit health care to Loudoun County, Kelley said. Inova Loudoun Campus in Leesburg, or most of us refer to as Cornwall, served for 80 years as the center of health care in our county. Phase 2 will include Loudoun Adult Medical Psychiatric services, which will have 22 beds for adult inpatients, and surface parking at the east wing of the hospital. Phase 2 is expected to be finished by 2013.
