Missoni came and went this morning in much of the countrys Target stores, even in Leesburg. The first transaction this morning for the much anticipated name-brand was more than $1,100 on Missoni products alone, according to a Leesburg Target manager. Missoni, which has partnered with Target for a new fall collection that includes mens and womens clothing, housewares, decorations, school supplies and even bikes, hit stores on Sept. 13, but by morning most stores in the area were selling out. Online sales forced the Target website to crash repetitively throughout the day. The Missoni for Target brand has housewares ranging from $6 to $20 and clothing for up to $80. We are suddenly extremely popular. You may not be able to access our site momentarily due to unusually high traffic. Please stay here and well try to get you in as soon as we can, read the Target website throughout much of the day in a greeting from Bullseye the Target dog It was an epic fail, Colleen Kim, a resident of Leesburg said of Targets efforts to keep shelves stocked. Apparently theres nothing left. I thought, well its Leesburg no ones going to be there. Kim went through most of the store in Leesburg figuring she could leave with at least some Missoni products even though she had been told by a friend that the entire store in Arlington had sold out by morning. Kim didnt have much luck though in her journey through the Leesburg Target during the mid-afternoon Sept. 13. According to a Leesburg Target manager, the Missoni collection will be trickling in for the set that will be sold throughout the fall season. But, she also said that theyre not sure when or what products they will be receiving, but they should be expected within the next couple of days. We didnt expect it to go this quickly, a manager said. We expected it to go like the last collections. Were going to do the best we can to keep up with demand. Missoni is an Italian fashion house based in Varese founded by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni in 1953. Its headquarters are in Milan, Italy, and serve the entire world. Theres nothing left, Julie Barmack, of Leesburg, who was shopping with her daughter said. It looks like itd be good if there were anything left.
The empty shelves that held Missoni products earlier in the day are scattered throughout the store in women's clothing, housewares and decorations.Times-Mirror Staff Photo/Laura Peters

All items that flew off the shelves are now on Craigslist or Ebay! Glo is right, many stores are not sold out because the items are very garish and ugly. The only people that went crazy are the ones trying to make a buck off it. It might be nice to have a scarf or shirt to say you own one, but other than that.UGLY!

austriaco. Nellinfanzia si trasferisce a Zara, quindi studia a Trieste e a Milano. Per la verit studia pochissimo e si dedica allo sport.

Its not sold out at the Columbus, Ga Target. I went there yesterday and they have it all. The reason why is that it is so ugly no one in there right mind would purchase it down here. It looks like it came from Mexico. These items are so ugly I was in shock when I found out the web site crashed.

Missoni knitwear is known for its multitude of patterns such as stripes, geometrics, and abstract florals, in a kaleidoscope of colours. They are also known for the liberal use of many different fabrics such as wool, cotton, linen, rayon and silk.

Anti-snobbery, Youre an idiot!! It happened all over the country. Arlington Va, Harlem and Brooklyn NY etc. Shows how shallow Loudouners are. You can slap a name brand on anything and people will flock to it BMWs, iPhones, Toll Brothers, Princeton University, etc. etc. etc

People grabbed the stuff up to hawk on EBay. You cant blame people for trying to make some money in this economy, but Target certainly knew this was going to happen. BTY the stuff is b*TT ugly. I dont care what it costs retail I wouldnt be caught dead wearing it. Trust me, you wouldnt either. If you slept in you did the right thing.

They dont show her face, but by virtue of the fact that Ms. Kim isnt at work on work day and pregnant, maybe she is some trophy wife who acts like a valley girl despite being 30 with her epic fail comments.

Please refrain from using the overly-used term epic fail. What is so epic about this ? Who gives a crap ? An epic fail to me, would be something along the lines of a nuclear plant meltdown, or a building collapse. Not because some garbage was scarfed-up by a bunch of fashiion lemmings.

Glad to see the economy is doing well. Were the unemployed doing all the shopping? Looks like the same Target junk, just slapped Missoni brand on it to get if off the shelves quicker.

Of course its news worthy. Whenever something happens that disappoints a bunch of soccer moms and their spoiled brat kids, we must stop the presses.

Stories like this remind me why I would never live in Loudoun. Never again. So did you live in Loudoun or not? Aside from that, you do realize that this crap is being sold (and is sold out) across the country. Ironically, Loudoun County isnt the center of some big box Italian fashion movement. But thanks again for trolling on our boards on telling us how you wouldnt live where we live, even though we know youre here reading Loudon Times articles and comments in the first place because you care a lot about where we live.

How much of this junk was Made in China? I believe the Real McCoy is Made in Italy, but if its for sale in Target at a serious discount, Im pretty sure the label says Made in China.

Stories like this remind me why I would never live in Loudoun. Never again. Freak Show. People wonder why we are in a recession. Priorities are not where they need to be. Of course, why should people want to save their money? The government is always there to bail everyone out. Its all a ripple effect. Better learn to speak Chinese.
