Pastors Corner ~
THE NEW TRANSLATION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL PART 6 LAMB OF GOD
Happy are those who are called to his supper is now Blessed are those who are called to the Supper of the Lamb
The new translation recalls the climactic moment in the Book of Revelation when Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, depicted as a Bridegroom, intimately joins Himself to His Bride, the Church. Here, Jesus unites himself to his people in the great heavenly wedding feast. An angel announces this loving union by saying, Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelations 19:9). Here, the Eucharist involves an intimate, loving communion with our Lord Jesus Christ that is likened to the union shared between a husband and the wife.

WORLD MISSION SUNDAY

United with Catholics of the world at the Table of the Lord, we recommit ourselves to our vocation, through Baptism, to be missionaries. Our prayers and Eucharist celebration next Sunday are directed toward our brothers and sisters throughout the world who are waiting to hear the joyous Good News of Jesus. Through our financial gifts, offered in next weeks collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, we become partners with missionaries who proclaim the Gospel and offer help and hope to the poor in mission countries.

Lord, I am not worthy to receive you is now Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof.
We can see the biblical roots of these words from the gospel (Matthew 8:8; Luke 7:6-7). The Roman centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant who is at his house, paralyzed and in distress. As a Gentile and outsider of Gods people, and a Roman officer in charge of soldiers who were oppressing Gods people, this centurion humbly acknowledges, Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. The centurion believes Jesus can heal from afar, and he continued by saying, But only say the word, and my servant shall be healed. Jesus was amazed by his faith and the servant was healed. Like the centurion, we recognize our unworthiness to have Jesus come sacramentally under the roof of our souls in holy communion, yet we trust that He can heal us.
