STEWARDSHIP AS A WAY OF LIFE PART 1 Stewardship is a way of life. It is a way of discipleship for those who follow the Lord Jesus Christ. When we recognize that God is the origin of all life, the giver of everything that we have and are, the source of our freedom and giftedness, the healthy person responds by thanking God through prayer, by serving God and Gods people through ministry, by sharing our financial resources with those in need. Stewardship is a way of life based upon conversion of heart. We need a new heart and a new spirit to be true followers of Christ. We need the Holy Spirit in our lives, to make our hearts prayerful, our ministry joyful and our generosity extravagant. Stewards as Disciples of Christ, do four things: *Receive Gods gifts gratefully *Nurture Gods gifts responsibly *Share Gods gifts justly and charitably *Return those gifts to God abundantly Gratitude is the cornerstone of stewardship. All is gift for those who see life with the eyes of faith. God gives us our existence and talents, our time and treasure, our family and friends. Stewards express their gratitude by a life of generosity. Stewards are serious about naming and developing the gifts and talents given to them for the sake of the community. Responsibility and accountability are part of our call as disciples and stewards. (Excerpts from Stewardship: A Disciples Response)
Be Safe
To keep our homes safe and to comply with recent State law, the St. Columba Mens Club is offering to install carbon monoxide detectors in parishioners homes. The cost is $20.00, which includes the detector and installation. We will also install smoke detectors. For more info, call: 619-933-3377. Donations to the Mens Club for other benevolent functions welcome.
K of C Christmas Cards
Once again the Knights of Columbus are selling Christmas Cards. All proceeds go to support the K of C and their works throughout the year. Look for Knights selling Christmas cards after Masses this weekend through December 11th.
Thanksgiving Baskets
We are collecting non-perishable food items for Thanksgiving gift baskets. Place your donations in the basket at the entrance of the church.
Healing Mass
On Thursday, November 17th, Fr. Mario will celebrate a Healing Mass at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
Please pray for the following who are ill, their families and those who care for them, especially ~
Trisha & Antonio Alcantara, Meldina Almandrez, Joe Bachmeier, Walt
Go Green
St. Columba School has begun a recycling program. Drop off all your empty cans and plastic bottles at the large container near the outdoor lunch area, before or after the Saturday evening and Sunday Masses. Sorry, no glass or newspapers accepted at this time.

Automated Giving
To strengthen stewardship, caring for and sharing Gods gifts and family as disciples of Christ, we request that you consider utilizing a new and easier way to support our parish...Automated Giving. What is Automated Giving? An alternative means of support for St. Columba Church instead of using envelopes. You may now make your contributions directly from your checking or savings account or with a credit card. There is NO COST to you to participate in the program. What are the benefits to me? 1. This program allows you to plan your giving in the same way you budget your other financial commitments. 2. You no longer have to be concerned about making up missed offertory donations when you are out of town, on vacation, ill, etc. 3. You can easily adjust the amount of your donation (up or down) through the secure website. 4. You no longer need to write a check and search for an envelope every week. 5. By using a credit card your donations will help you increase your credit card bonus incentives. I feel uncomfortable about not having something to physically drop in the collection basket. What should I do? Special donation slips are available in the pews for those enrolled in the program to be dropped into the collection basket, should you wish.
Thank You
Thanks for all the caring kindness, compassion, cards, well-wishes and prayers during my and my husbands illness. ~Ann Zeunges
