A pedestrian was hit by a car on Route 9 while attempting to cross the two-lane road at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 21. The vehicle was traveling northbound on Route 9 when it hit the 18-year-old man near Shady Lane outside of Hillsboro. According to Loudoun County Sheriffs Office Spokesman, Kraig Troxell, the man who resides in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., was traveling on foot from West Virginia to the Virginia state line. He was using a cut-through through the woods coming from West Virginia into Virginia to access Sweet Spring Store, Troxell said. He was attempting to cross traffic during heavy rush hour traffic. One vehicle attempted to swerve to miss him and he was struck by a second vehicle who was also attempting to miss him. The incident closed the road for more than an hour. The victim was taken to Winchester Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As of last night, he was in stable condition, according to Troxell. Troxell said no charges have been filed against the victim or the driver. The investigation is ongoing.

You are right Stale Wormfart, WV should use some stimulus money from that bypass they are building and make a pedestrian bridge over 9 into VA. Is it shovel ready though?

It figures that one hill billy from Virginia would call someone from West Virginia a hill billy and filth. You do realize that a state line doesnt define intelligence? And people, drive this route during rush hour and youll be asking why theres no method for safe passage across the road due to the heavy and impatient traffic. A kid got hit by a car and nearly killed - it could have been one of your
