Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Foundation Program/Development Intern Founded in 1983, the SCGA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Southern California Golf Association, one of the nations oldest and largest regional golf associations with more than 150,000 individual members who belong to more than 1,200 clubs throughout Southern California and Baja California. The SCGA Foundations mission is to sponsor the education and character development of Southern California youth through golf. The Program and Development Intern is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the SCGA Foundation and its staff. The intern will play a critical role in a number of foundation programs and fundraising initiatives including its major programs and fundraising events. The intern will serve as a representative for the SCGA and the SCGA Foundation and will also have opportunities to learn more about the operations of the SCGA. Joining a staff of three employees at the Foundation, the Program and Development Intern must be self-motivated, responsible, and detail-oriented. Position reports to the Assistant Director/SCGA Foundation. Requirements include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, must be willing to learn, proficient in Microsoft word and other administrative skills. This is a twelve month internship and salary is $2,500 per month. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and other group insurance; paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave; and other employer-sponsored benefits. InterAction Public Policy Internship InterAction is the largest alliance of U.S. based international development and humanitarian nongovernmental organizations. Members operate in every developing country and advocate for global change to overcome poverty, exclusion, and suffering by advancing social justice and basic dignity for all. InterAction is located in Washington, DC and aims to give each of its members the collective power to speak and act on issues of common concern. InterActions Public Policy Unit offers internship opportunities to motivated individuals with a compassion for global change. Smithsonian Institution Compensation and Benefits Intern (Spring) This internship is located in the Compensation and Benefits Branch of the Smithsonian. The mission of the Branch is to develop and administer the employee benefits programs, develop and oversee the Employee Assistance program, process all personnel actions and oversee the employee Official Personnel files. The intern will assist the Compensation and Benefits Branch with developing the look and feel for OHR Web sites, and is responsible for site navigation design and visual execution. Smithsonian Institution Human Capital Performance Intern (Spring) This internship is located in the Workforce Planning and Performance (WPP) Branch of the Office of Human Resources (OHR), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The mission of the Branch is to develop and to advise SI leadership and employees on human resource policies and regulations; to maintain a human capital accountability system; and to provide training and to assist with leadership and employee development programs for SI employees. The intern will assist the Workforce Planning and Performance Branch in its day-to-day operations, especially in the areas of performance tracking and data information. In addition, this can include development opportunities in the following areas: Employee Training and Development: Record and track training evaluations, Enter training information into the Human Resource Management System (HRMS), Assist with classroom management; Human Capital Performance: Record and track employee engagement data, Prepare trend lines and prediction models, Conduct program analysis and write findings reports, Assist with New Employee Orientation and New Employee data gathering; Outreach: Participate in Outreach activities such as career fairs, networking events, and training sessions; Administrative Support: Assist with administrative and weekly Activities. Smithsonian Institution Human Resources Intern (Spring) This internship is located in the Office of Human Resources, Office of the Director which works in conjunction with our units (National Air and Space, Natural History, etc.) to balance service and regulatory requirements with responsibility for the selection, advancement, retention, and separation of employees; the recognition of exemplary employee service; and the provision of benefits for all employees. Smithsonian Institution Labor & Employee Relations Intern (Spring) This internship is located in the Labor & Employee Relations (LER) Branch of the Office of Human Resources (OHRM), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The LER Branch provides advice and

guidance to management regarding employee conduct or performance issues and employee medical issues (specifically when these medical issues affect an employees performance and/or conduct). In addition, the LER Branch serves as the main liaison with the unions representing Smithsonian employees. The LER branch also represents the Smithsonian on appeals before certain third-party tribunals, including the Merit Systems Protection Board, the Federal Labor Relations Authority, and labor arbitrators. The intern will assist the LER Branch in its day-to-day operations. This can include development opportunities in the following areas: Administrative Support: Create and maintain a database for vacancy searches conducted pursuant to the Rehabilitation Act of 1974, Create and maintain a database for Labor/Management matters, including tracking issues raised for impact & implementation negotiation and day-to-day issues raised by the union, Assist in transitioning to electronic filing of all submissions with the Merit Systems Protection Board, Updating the Supervisors Compass, Light filing; Analysis: Conduct and track management satisfaction surveys, Conduct monthly analysis of LER programs and actions and prepare monthly metrics reports to convey findings; Assistance with Appeals before Merit Systems Protection Board: Assist in preparing and maintaining case files on employee appeals before the Merit Systems Protection Board, Assist in preparing for hearings and attend hearings before the Merit Systems Protection Board. USC Center for Urban Education Communications Intern The Center for Urban Education (CUE) is seeking a student intern with a background in communications, journalism and/or marketing. The intern will gain experience in writing articles for publication in print, on the web and other online media (e.g., through Constant Contact); assisting with the development of other content; maintaining and updating information on CUE's website; and preparing materials for dissemination to targeted audiences. Student will work 10-20 hours/week, starting in January. CUE is a research center housed at the Rossier School of Education. It leads socially conscious research and develops data, benchmarking and process improvement tools to assist colleges and universities in improving educational outcomes for minority students. 2012 Google Lime Scholarship for Students with Disabilities Access to knowledge is our thing. When it comes to higher education for promising scholars, we don't want anything to stand in the way. That's why Google is proud to support the work of Lime Connect. Google is committed to helping the innovators of the future make the most of their talents by providing scholarships and networking retreats for computer science students with disabilities. Recipients of the Google Lime Scholarship will each receive a scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year. Selected students will also be invited to attend the annual Google Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California, in 2012. Scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates' academic background and demonstrated passion for computer science - $10,000USD for those studying in the US and $5,000CAD for those studying in Canada (based on tuition costs). Hyperlocal Newsroom Summer Academy New York University The Hyperlocal Newsroom Summer Academy is designed for everyone from journalism beginners to sophisticated young reporters- both precollege and college. The program is designed around the NYTimes.com site, The Local East Village, a collaboration between the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at NYU and The New York Times. Howard Foundation is a non-profit organization that partners with some of the largest companies in the world to provide paid full-time summer internships in the multimedia and entertainment industry to multi-ethnic minority students.
