Evaluation question 2 How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I will be comparing the main character from my final production who is Percy to another character from another film. The character I have chosen to compare Percy to is Yoko from the grudge because I thought this will be a good comparison as they are the protagonist in both movies.

Percy is the main character in our film, he is the protagonist in the movie and basically what he does is work on a day to day basis at and mops and cleans school corridors. He is an innocent and a character that is a liar to because he lies to his wife about his job, he says to her that he is an office worker but he really isnt he comes to the school every day as he is the cleaner.

Percy from the movie the Grindylow

Yoko is also a protagonist in the Grudge and she is also a cleaner and she has to do her job on a day to day basis as well. Yoko does cleaning for a living so that is a similarity to Percy from The Grindylow because he does cleaning for a living as well.

Yoko from the movie Grudge

Similarities of Percy and Yoko:

Percy is a cleaner in the Grindylow and he does this job for a living on a day to day basis, Yoko from the Grudge is also a cleaner and she also does her job for a living on a day to day basis. They are both the protagonists in both films and they are the victims. Both Percy and Yoko lead are the main characters and they build up the storyline to the finale. When the radio cuts off in The Grindylow it is similar to when the phone cuts off in the Grudge, this creates insecurity for both Percy and Yoko because they know that something is wrong and that they are not alone. Both have an innocent characteristic so they are very good characters in these type of films because they are calm and focused at all times which will give the audience a big shock when something dramatic happens. In the ending scene were Percy gets taken away is similar to the Grudge because Yoko gets taken away as well.

Differences of Percy and Yoko: Percys costume is different to Yokos; Percy is wearing a blue coloured jump suit in the Grindylow and in the Grudge Yoko is wearing a white apron. The gender of both characters is different as you can see Percy is a man and Yoko is a woman. The props used are different as you can see from the image above that Yoko has headphones around her neck and in the other picture Percy has a mop in his hand and he is mopping. From the pictures above you can see that both characters have an anxious look on their faces because it is indicating that something is wrong. Both of the movies locations are different The Grudge is set in a house and The Grindylow is set in a school, both films are in different time periods as well the Grindylow is set at Dusk time and The Grudge is set in the morning.
