Senator
Richard
Lugar
holds
a
commanding
55%-30%
lead
over
challenger
Richard
Mourdock
in
the
initial
ballot
of
the
statewide
survey
we
just
completed.
Our
survey
additionally
shows
that
64%
of
Republican
primary
voters
in
the
Hoosier
state
approve
of
the
job
that
Lugar
has
done
as
US
Senator,
while
only
39%
approve
of
the
job
that
Mourdock
has
done
as
State
Treasurer.
Senator
Lugars
initial
ballot
lead
is
both
broad
and
deep.
A
closer
look
at
the
data
reveals:
Lugar
leads
52%-35%
among
men
and
58%-25%
among
women.
Lugar
leads
62%-26%
among
seniors.
Lugar
leads
53%-32%
among
Evangelicals.
The
poll
also
finds
that
there
is
a
vast
reservoir
of
good-will
and
support
for
Senator
Lugar,
including
his
tireless
effort
to
override
President
Obamas
rejection
of
the
Keystone
XL
pipeline,
and
his
efforts
to
reduce
wasteful
government
spending
in
Washington.
National Research Inc. conducted a telephone survey of 600 Likely Republican Primary Voters in Indiana on February 8-9, 2012. The margin of error for this survey +/- 4% at the 95% confidence interval. National Research Inc. is a Republican polling firm, whose client list includes Republican officeholders and conservative organizations throughout the country, including the Club for Growth and the JW Pope Civitas Institute.
