March 2012 Krishna Kitchen in Costa Rica

Krishna Kitchen serves prasadam for the first time overseas. By HITA KARINA DASI Krishna Kitchen was originally launched as Krishna Camp in 2006 when younger ISKCON devotees from New Vrindaban established a presence at two alternative festivalsWest Virginias Rainbow Gathering and Nevadas Burning Man. Since then, Krishna Kitchen has evolved into a full scale prasadam catering company that hit fifteen events across the U.S. in 2011. Here is a report from the Envision Festival in Costa Rica where the Krishna Kitchen team catered at their first event overseas in honor of Nitai Das, the founder and Director of Krishna Kitchen who left this world on January 31st 2012 to join Srila Prabhupada and Yamuna Devi in their eternal transcendental pastimes A ten person devotee team from Phili, DC, Alachua and Costa Rica joined forces to continue Nitai Dasas visionserving prasadam to the attendees of the Envision Festival in Uvita, Costarica. Amidst art, music, yoga, creative performances, Krishna Kitchen stoves were blazing. Beneath 90 degree clear blue skies and 500 meters from the beach, dedicated devotees prepared and served Krishna prasadam to

the thousands of attendees.

Nitai initiated the Costa Rica incarnation of Krishna Kitchen. All the participants finished it in his honor, said Jagadhis Caitanya, a close friend and associate of Nitais.

Krishna family came together, honoring the service of a dear God-brother, friend and inspiration. Nitais life and service was celebrated with a sunset tribute on Sunday March 4, 2012. Hundreds of participants sat beneath the earth harp that was strung across from the main stage, looked on and listened. For the soul there is never birth nor death nor having once been does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval, he is not slain when the body is slain. These are the words of Lord Krishna. Krishna Kitchen, has been feeding tens of thousands at Burning Man, Gaia, Wanderlust, Lightning in a Bottle, Beloved, Earthdance, Bhakti Fest, Rainbow gatherings and Envision 2012. We honor our brother, a true visionary. Nitai was the founder of Krishna Kitchen, an extension of Food For Life Global. Though Nitai is no longer with us; we are here to continue his work which is also our work and our service. We honor him in your presence with these words and this dance. Nitai, Yadu, Bhakta Tim we will see you in the promised land. Krishna family is forever, stated a Krishna Kitchen spokesperson. Mohini, a 3rd generation devotee, an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer, performed for onlookers, just as Nitai had envisioned.

Krishna Kitchen devotees prepared raw, organic, gourmet prasadam. Yamuna Devi, a seasoned raw food chef, created delicious raw food sweet balls daily. For lunch and the evening hours, our amazing team consisting of Pushpavan, Nandi, Yamuna, Jagadhis Caitanya, Dhattatreya, Mohini, Rukmini, Sevya and Ganesh was in the front lines, cutting, washing, cooking, serving, and lovingly distributing Krishna prasadam. It is amazing how much love one can feel coming as Krishna prasadam opens the hearts of all, in the simple exchange of prasadam distribution. Krishna was exactly where He belongs, in the middle of everything.

That is the example Srila Prabhupada left for us. He was always in the heart of it all.

If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, flower, fruit or water I will accept it. BG
