The Making of a Great School

Our Guiding Principles

CORE VALUES SERVICE...we pledge COMPETENCE...we work for EXELLENCE...we live by VISION Diclum Elementary School as a center of excellence by the year 2013; producing graduates who are competent in elementary education, equipped with life skills, morally-upright, and responsive to the demands of community life. MISSION The Diclum Elementary School commits itself to bring out the best in every learner through quality elementary education imbued with effective learning experiences and conducive environment brought about by committed teaching personnel and active involvement of parents and the community in a culture of high integrity, prestige, faith and genuine service.

Diclum Elementary School is one of the 33 elementary schools comprising the District of Tobias Fornier in the Division of Antique. It was established as a community primary school in 1930 by the people of Barangay Fatima (then a part of Diclum), Diclum, and Igdalaguit during the American colonial period. The school was first built on the land now occupied by Diclum National High School. It became a complete elementary school in 1947 and transferred to its present site in 1950. The school is home to the Diclum Elementary School Drum and Lyre Corps, Districts pioneer school band founded in 1970 and a three-time Binirayan Festival champion. It organized and maintained the Diclum Barangay High School (now Diclum National High School) as its extension project from 1972 to 1988 and revitalized the buri-weaving industry of the community through its various livelihood projects since the 1950s. Through the years, the school had produced an Atenean lawyer, a mayor, and a vice-governor all in one, physicians, nurses, teachers, engineers, seamen, PMA and UP graduates, CPAs, allied health professionals, office workers, OFWs, and skilled workers, among others. Since it began, the Diclum Elementary School has always been the communitys source of pride for being a traditional entry and winner to various competitions in the district, division, regional, and national levels. In 1993, Diclum Elementary School was named one of the Most Effective Elementary Schools in the Philippines. It also had 7 active Master Teachers during the 90s, the highest number ever held by a non-central school in Antique. In 2002, it was made as the TEEPs Satellite Leader School in the Division of Antique.
