PENT ECOST AND T HE HOLY SPIRIT PENTECOST is the time when the Holy Spirit came like tongues of fire hovering over the disciples of Jesus Chris t. Gods sent the Holy Spirit in fulfillment of what Christ promised that he w ill be present with the believers until the end of the ages (Mt. 28:20). The Holy Spirit is given to us in Baptism and Confirmation. The Holy Spirit is God Himself who is the very principle of life, the source of all graces, the fountain of all virtues needed to please God and attain salvation. Those who have the Spirit of God receive the gif ts of the Spir it which are Know ledge, Wisdom, Fortitude, Understanding, Counsel, Piety and Fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2). Liv ing in the Spirit means that our lives are not ruled by the desires of the world and the flesh whic h includes all kinds of sin. Consequently, those who are led by the Holy Spirit w ill enjoy the fruits of the Spirit, whic h are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). With the Holy Spirit, we have a constant Companion and Faithful Friend who alw ays helps us in our journey in lif e until the end of our days.

Memorial Day Mass at Holy Cross

Thank you to our many generous parishioners and the St. Columba Mens Club who made it possible to help 17 families with their tuition this school year. Please continue to use the yellow envelopes found in the pews and in your monthly offering envelopes set. With the new year approaching, there are many new families who need your help. Thank you for your support of this worthwhile program!

Buy Scrip after Mass!

Scrip cards are available for purchase after the Sunday morning Masses. We have a limited supply of Target, Walmart, Arco, Vons, Starbucks, and Amazon.com. This is an easy fundraiser for our school. Please stop by and pick up a card or two before you go shopping! Also, let us know where you like to shop and we can stock those cards for you.
