About this audiobook

Which mistakes can never be fixed? Would you fight for a five-year relationship after your lover's had a drunken one-night stand? A slow-burn lesbian workplace romance that asks what you'd do when love isn't always easy, neat, or simple.

The past twelve months have seen Alex and her girlfriend, Terri, slowly drift apart. The awful revelation of Terri's one drunken night of betrayal shows Alex just how far apart they are. The more they fight, the less Alex even wants to try.

On a business trip to Canada, Alex meets Justine and, over the course of one pivotal evening, a connection is formed that shatters everything Alex thought she knew about herself. Returning to London, she's faced with choices that will irrevocably change her life.

Now her heart is torn between loyalty to the old and new beginnings in a long-distant relationship.

An uplifting, beautiful novel that has heat, honesty, messy lives, and real-life women.

Contains mature themes.

Author

A.L. Brooks

A.L. Brooks currently resides in London, although over the years she has lived in places as far afield as Aberdeen and Australia. She works 9-5 in corporate financial systems and spends many a lunchtime in the gym attempting to achieve some semblance of those firm abs she likes to write about so much. And then promptly negates all that with a couple of glasses of red wine and half a slab of dark chocolate in the evenings. When not writing she likes doing a bit of Latin dancing, cooking, travelling both at home and abroad, reading lots of other writers’ les-fic, and listening to mellow jazz.

The story was excellently written. Perfect amount of angst and romance. The way the impact their traumatic relationship infidelity was unpacked and moved though was well done. Alex and Justine are so easy to love and root for. Brava!

The storyline was really dragged out for me with not much really happening. I also think if there is a main character who has an English accent, you need to choose a narrator who can do an English accent. It was a really hard for me to finish this one for both of those reasons.

This audiobook was hot with lots of lust, internal struggles, anticipation, angst, decisions pondered, and more internal struggles. Alex, from England, on a business trip to Montreal, meets Justine in a social situation arranged by friends. Fueled by too much alcohol, having so much fun wildly dancing, Alex fought temptation until she didn’t. Regrets followed as they soon realized they worked for the same company. The internal angst and struggles continued as they waved a path back towards each other. I really loved this audiobook..
