What is Cyberbullying?

The electronic posting of mean-spirited messages about a person (as a student) often done anonymously.

Examples of Cyberbullying:
Mean text messages or emails Rumors sent by email or posted on social networking sites, such as Facebook Embarrassing pictures, videos or websites Creating a fake profile for someone

Effects of Cyberbullying:
Negative physical health Depression Anxiety Feelings of loneliness Lose interest in fun activities Decreasing academic achievement

How can Cyberbullying be prevented?


Refuse to partake in cyberbullying Tell friends to stop cyberbullying Block all communication with a cyberbully Report cyberbullying to a trusted adult Raise awareness about cyberbullying by speaking to friends, classmates, teachers and parents about the issue

How to stay Cyber-safe:


Never post or share your personal information online Never share or post a friends personal information online Never share your internet passwords with anyone, except your parents Never meet anyone face-to-face that you only know online Talk to your parents about what you do and who you talk to online
