Expressive Portraits

In your Art lessons you might have learnt how to draw portraits by measuring the proportions of the face. For an extension activity you can use what you have learnt and your imagination to create a self portrait with an unusual expression Start by getting someone to take a photo of you with your mouth open and your eyes shut or any other unusual expression. You can then work from the photograph to create a tonal drawing. Alternatively you could experiment using colour try to match the light and dark tones with two contrasting colours like the example below.
