Major League Sports, Lockouts, and the Labor Exemption as NHL Collective Bargaining Commences
Tuesday, July 24, 2012 12:30 PM 1:30 PM ET

This panel will discuss recent developments in the law affecting labor-management relations and collective bargaining in major professional sports. The NHL collective bargaining agreement expires on September 15, 2012, and while the parties will be engaged in labor negotiations over the summer, recent legal developments may or may not affect those negotiations. Specifically, the panel will consider the law governing the non-statutory labor exemption and the Norris-LaGuardia Act as applied in Brady v. NFL, as well as the NBA lockout and related litigation and what effect, if any, the Brady decision may or may not have on the NHLs labor negotiations.
