National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council centrally regulates academics for B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration and other eleven structured courses of studies that are imparted at the existing 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 12 State Govt. Institutes of Hotel Management, 19 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT. Five Food Craft Institutes located in different parts in the country offer Diploma programs in specific operational area. All Institutes uniformly follow standardized course curricula prescribed by the Council for the different professional program. Quality of education and training provided by the Institutes help students to emerge as professionally qualified personnel for hospitality and other allied service sectors. The Council has till date trained more than 45000 Hospitality Managers, Executives and other operational personnel. Its alumni from affiliated Institutes occupy key positions in hospitality industry as well as in teaching institutions both in India and abroad. 2. ABOUT THE B.Sc. HOSPITALITY & HOTEL ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME

The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the India Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year (Six Semesters) program equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The program also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping and providing managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety and Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Tourism Management. 3. On national level about 80% graduates are employed by Hospitality and other service sectors through on-campus and off-campus recruitment processes. 4. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION 4.1 Minimum Qualification Minimum qualification for admission is a pass in the examination of 10+2 system of Senior Secondary education or its equivalent with English as one of the compulsory subject. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2011 on provisional basis. Provisional admissions will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission. Admissions will be subject to verification of facts from the original certificates/ documents to be produced by the candidates at the time of Counselling and at the time of admission in Institute. Even after admission to an Institute, if an applicant is at a later date found ineligible on account of having submitted false information or testimonials or for having suppressed any material information, his/her admission will be cancelled and the fee paid will also be forfeited. Decision of National Council in this regard shall be final. List of approved qualifying examinations for Indian Students Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/ State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University. General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University. Any Public School/ Board/ University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education. H.S.C. Vocational Examination. Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects.

4.2 Age Limit For candidates from General and OBC categories upper age limit is 22 years as on 1.7. 2011, only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after July 01, 1989 are eligible. In the case

of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates upper age limit is 25 years as on 1.7.2011, only those SC / ST candidates whose date of birth falls on or after July 01, 1986 will be eligible. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to since Physically Challenged category candidates may belong to General/SC/ST/OBC category. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/ PreUniversity Certificate is the only authentic proof that will be accepted. At the time of Counselling, this certificate must be produced in original as a proof of age, failing which the candidate will not be considered for counselling/admissions. 4.3 Physical Fitness All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given in this Brochure at the time of admission.

15%, 7.5% and 27 % seats will be reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and OBC categories (Central list), respectively. Seats remaining vacant if any in SC & ST categories shall not be filled by candidates belonging to any other categories whereas seats remaining vacant under OBC may be filled up from General Category during second round of Counselling. 5.3 Document required in support of claim for reservation under SC , ST and OBC categories The certificate of SC,ST & OBC category is required to be issued by District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/ Additional Deputy Commissioner/ Deputy Collector/ 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/ City Magistrate/ SubDivisional Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate/ Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar/ Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and / or his/ her family normally resides/ Administrator/ Secretary to Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep Island). Certificate issued by any other authority will not be accepted. Candidates are required to produce the original Cast Certificate along with attested copy at the time of Counselling as well as at the time of admission at the Institute. 5.4 OBC candidates (non-creamy layer) 27% reservation of seats are available for OBC (Other Backward Class) (non-creamy layer) candidates in 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management only who are having certificate in prescribed format for admission to Central Institutes only. Those candidates who are listed in Central list of OBC only are eligible for admission under the reservation of OBC in Central Institutes of Hotel Management. Certificate of OBC other than the prescribed format or Caste not falling under the Central list shall not be considered for reservation under OBC

The OBC certificate should be current and not more than one year old and should be issued in favour of candidate. 5.5 Reservation for Physically Challenged Candidate 3% reservation of seat shall be provided across the board for Physically Challenged candidate. 5.6 Who qualify for admission under Physically Challenged Candidates (a) Orthopedically Challenged Candidates Only those Orthopedically Challenged candidates who have locomotion disability or cerebral palsy with locomotion impairment of minimum of 40% and maximum of 75% falling in the following categories are eligible to apply. B.L. Both Legs affected but not arms. O.A. One Arm affected (R or L) a. Impaired reach b. Weakness of grip c. Ataxia O.L. One Leg affected (Right or Left) M.W. Muscular Weakness and limited Physical endurance. (b) Visually Challenged Candidates:

Only those visually challenged candidates who suffer from any one of the following conditions are eligible to apply.

Visual acuity not exceeding 6/60 or 20/200 (Swollen) in the better eye with correcting lenses. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of 20 degree or worse.

( c) Hearing Impaired Candidates Only those Hearing impaired candidates having disability between 40% to 75% shall be eligible. (d) Learning Disability (Dyslexia) Subject to availability of seat after adjusting all the admission to other admissible disable category under section 2(i) of PWD Act, 1995. Medical Certificate issuing Authority for Physically Challenged Candidates At the time of submission of application, Physically Handicapped candidates will be required to necessarily attach the copy of Physically Handicapped Certificate issued by Chief Medical Officer(CMO) Central Govt./ State Govt./ Municipal Corporation run Hospitals only. Such candidates are required to produce the original Medical Certificate both at the time of Counselling and at the time of Admission to the Institute. In case of any dispute in determining the eligibility under PH Category, the matter will be referred to Ministry of Social Justice, Govt. of India and decision of the said Ministry will be binding on both parties. 5.7 Reservation for Kashmiri Migrant (Subject to notification from Ministry of HRD for academic
session 2011-2012)

One seat (Supernumerary) in each Govt. affiliated IHMs is provided for Registered Kashmiri Migrants. Such applicants shall have to qualify the JEE-2011. Candidates registered with different

State Govt. should produce proof of registration in original at the time of Counselling and at the time of admission to the Institutes. 5.8 Important Information Admission to first year of B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration program is strictly based on the All India Rank earned by the candidate. Ranks are strictly based on the marks obtained by the candidate in written examination. Counselling involves checking of eligibility of candidates, verification of documents, depositing of counselling and other fee and opportunity for choice of Institutes as available at the time of his/her ranking. Candidates should give as many choices after careful evaluation of Institute based on information available in their respective websites. Allotment of Institute shall be as per merit and choice of Institute. No group discussion, no interviews are involved hence all candidates should be aware of touts who may mislead candidates or their parents unnecessarily. Question Paper will be bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi (except for English Language). 6.3 Marking Scheme for JEE Written Test

For each question the candidate will be awarded one mark if he/she has darkened only one bubble corresponding to the correct answer. In case he/she has not darkened any bubble or has darkened more than one bubble, he/she will be awarded zero mark for that question. There will be negative marking to the extent of 0.25 mark for darkening a wrong bubble. There will be no negative marking for Aptitude for Service Sector, however, each question in this section carries marks of 0.25; 0.50; 0.75 and 1.00. 6.4 Merit List

All India merit list of candidates shall be prepared with a unique rank on the basis of marks secured in the Written Test as well as other factors taking into account i.e. marks obtained in English component, Service Aptitude component. 6.5 Tie-breaking

In case of tie in All India Rank, marks obtained in secondary examination or equivalent / date of birth of the candidates shall be taken in to account for tie-breaking and allotment of Institute of Hotel Management shall be made accordingly. 6.6 Result of Written Test

Result of Written Test shall be announced on the Councils web site in the 2nd week of May, 2011.

6.7 Allotment of seats through De-Centralized Counselling

There shall be three rounds of Counselling to begin in the Second week of June,2011. The detailed schedule of Counselling and process involved including the mode of payment of fee and allotment of seats shall be given in the website www.nchmct.org and www.nchm.nic.in on 14th March, 2011.

6.8 Direct admission to rank holders of 10+2 of various School Boards Examination:
Each affiliated Institute will have three supernumerary seats available for direct admission for the candidates, who have secured a rank on merit in the 10+2 or equivalent examinations of various recognized Central/ State Board of Examination. Under this provision, one seat each will be available for rank holders in Arts, Science & Commerce streams respectively. These seats will be available for students getting rank upto 200 in those board examinations (for the year 2011) where up to 2 lakh candidates appeared and for students getting rank up to 500 in board examinations (for the year 2011) where more than 2 lakh candidates appeared. The candidates seeking direct admission under this provision shall have to submit a certified copy of mark sheet of the 2011 examination at the time of admission along with the application form. In case the rank holders, who turn up seeking direct admission in an affiliated institute have secured the same rank but from different boards, then the candidate who has secured the better percentage will be considered higher on merit for the sake of admissions. 6.9 Allotment of Hostel Seat during the Counselling: The allotment of seat of Hostel shall be made simultaneously during on-line on-campus Counselling. Vacancies of hostel in the institute shall be on category-wise basis as applicable. Candidates will be asked to indicate whether they want hostel or not at the time of exercising the choices of institutes for allotment. Hostel seat will also be allotted strictly based on All India Rank, wherever available.

6.10 Merit Scholarships and Financial Assistance a) National Council has instituted Merit Scholarships Scheme with the help of Industry for meritorious students who obtain Ist, IInd and IIIrd position on All India basis in Councils Annual Examination in the Ist year, IInd year and IIIrd year of the course i.e. after completion of both the Semester of the respective year. National Council also provides Financial Assistance to the tune of Rs.20,000/- one each to Ist year, IInd year and IIIrd year students to the most deserving Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidate of each Institutes who fulfill eligibility criteria as per stated guidelines given by National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology. Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates can avail financial assistance from their respective State Governments for which the concerned Institute will issue studentship certificate indicating fee received from the student.

6.12 Inter-Institute Transfer/ Migration National Council does not allow inter-institute transfer or migration on any ground during the entire duration of course. As such, no request for transfer or migration will be entertained after allotment of Institute of Hotel Management/ admission. 7. a) b) c) IMPORTANT NOTES FOR FILLING UP OF APPLICATION FORM Read the instructions carefully before filling the application form. DO NOT: scribble, smudge, cut, tear or wrinkle the Application Form or put any stray marks anywhere on the Application Form. Paste only recent passport size photograph with date printed. Photograph more than 3 months old shall not be accepted. Do not staple it. (Keep two more copies of the same photograph handy) Your name, address and signature should be in black ball pen only. Please note that your name, your parents/ guardians name and your date of birth should exactly be same as given in your High school or your first Board/ Pre-University Examination Certificate. All columns in the Application Form should be completed only in English letters. Incomplete Application Form or Application Form filled in a language other than English will not be accepted. Dont forget to note down the Application Form number for any future reference or correspondence with National Council. Also keep a photocopy of the filled in Application Form for your future record/ reference.

Note :Candidate may note in their own interest that there is no provision of relaxation in respect of age or qualification, so candidates may check their eligibility before submission of application form. 8. 8.1 MAILING YOUR FILLED APPLICATION FORM FOR JEE-2011 How, where and by when to send your completed Application Form

Duly completed Application Form should be sent to "JEE CELL" National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, A-34, Sector 62, Noida-201301" in the pre-addressed envelope. Ensure that the Application Form is not folded. (Application sent through private courier services will not be accepted). Applications mailed by registered Post/ Speed Post after last date shall also not be accepted. 9 . The candidate shall have to download the admit card (in duplicate) from Ist Week of April, 2011 onward. Candidate should carefully check the Admit Card for all the entries made therein. Incase of any discrepancy, it should immediately be brought to the notice of the JEE CELL in the Council in writing through FAX at 0120-2402819 as well. Post Master be deposited with invigilator for his/ her signature and same be preserved & produce for appearing in the Counselling while second copy of Admit Card to be deposited at the examination center. 9.2 Impersonation Impersonation is a cognizable offence and Center Test Administrator is authorized to file the F.I.R. with the Police against the impersonator. Candidate should present the Admit Card to the invigilator at the Examination Center for cross-verification. In case of doubtful identity, the candidate shall not be allowed to sit for the examination.

10.1 Date and Time of Written Test The All India Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will be held on 16th April, 2011 (3rd Saturday) from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Candidates should report at examination venue 30 minutes before the
commencement of the examination.

Change of Written Test Centre

Change of Written Test Centre within a city will not be considered. Under exceptional circumstances, change of center may be permitted if an application with valid reasons for the change of center is received in the JEE Cell on or before 4th April , 2011 along with non refundable fees of Rs.1000/- through Demand Draft drawn in favour of National Council for

Hotel Management & Catering Technology, payable at Noida/ Delhi. The National Council for Hotel Management reserves the right to reject such request in case the test center will not be in a position to accommodate any extra candidate. 11. OTHER INFORMATION 11.1 Fee Structure (for Government sponsored Institutes)

All candidates admitted through JEE 2011 will pay the following fee at standard rates in Indian Rupees during three years of the course:

The candidates will write the All India Entrance Examination which is common for admissions to both sets of program. Qualifying candidates can make a choice strictly in order of merit and can opt for either of the two streams of training for which allotment will be confirmed by NCHMCT in favour of the candidate. Once the candidate has been admitted to any of the above institutes, there wont be any change permitted either for the change of the course or for the change of the Institutes. Once the student is enrolled to the program, the progression of the student to next higher semester will be based on the result obtained by the student in the examination held by the National Council respectively for the two streams of programs. In case of the Institutes offering the specialization, the specialization will be available to the students based on the aggregate marks obtained by the candidate in the first and second semesters. There wont be any lateral movement based on the aggregate result of first and second semesters of any student from one institute to another offering specialization. The students following the B.Sc. H & H A program (with or without specialization) shall be awarded degree by IGNOU.
