The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is an agency of the Rep ublic of India, responsible for the

development of technology for use by the mil itary, headquartered in New Delhi, India. It was formed in 1958 by the merger of the Technical Development Establishment and the Directorate of Technical Develo pment and Production with the Defence Science Organisation. Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) works under Department of Def ence Research and Development of Ministry of Defence. DRDO dedicatedly working t owards enhancing self-reliance in Defence Systems and undertakes design & develo pment leading to production of world class weapon systems and equipment in accor dance with the expressed needs and the qualitative requirements laid down by the three services. DRDO is working in various areas of military technology which include aeronautic s, armaments, combat vehicles, electronics, instrumentation engineering systems, missiles, materials, naval systems, advanced computing, simulation and life sci ences. DRDO while striving to meet the Cutting edge weapons technology requireme nts provides ample spinoff benefits to the society at large thereby contributing to the nation buliding. Mision of DRDO : Design, develop and lead to production state-of-the-art sensors, weapon systems, platforms and allied equipment for our Defence Services. Provide technological solutions to the Services to optimise combat effectiveness and to promote well-being of the troops.
