    NGCP increases capacity of Dasmarinas Substation To help maintain the provision for N-1 contingency during the maximum dispatch of connected power customers, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is increasing the capacity of its Dasmarinas Extra High Voltage (EHV) Substation. N-1 contingency enables the power grid to sustain its integrity in case of a loss of a major component of the system. The improvement involves the installation of additional capacity both in 500-kiloVolt (kV) and 230-KV substations in Dasmarinas, Cavite. The capacity expansion is required to maintain the provision of N-I contingency during maximum dispatch of Ilijan power plant in Batangas as well as Quezon Power Plant and Pagbilao Coal Plants in Quezon. The project worth Six Hundred Eighteen Million Pesos (Php618 M) also involves the installation of 300 megavolt amperes (MVA) additional capacity to the 230/115-kV power transformer. The project also involves the replacement of two (2) 500-kV, fifteen (15) 230-kV and two(2) 115-kV power circuit breakers which will increase the reliability of the entire substation. Work on the project started in September 2011 and is scheduled to be completed during the first quarter of 2013. NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the countrys power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through power superhighways that include the interconnected system of transmission lines and towers, substations and related assets. NGCPs regular maintenance activities and expansion projects aim to enhance the reliability and quality of electricity delivered to customers. ### (Photos on the next page)
