PART A (10 x 2 =20 marks) 1. What is the need for burried layer in fabrication of monolithic integrated transistor? 2. Differentiate between thin film and thick film technology in IC fabrication. 3. Determine the input impedance of 741 operational amplifier employed as voltage follower having Av = 50,000 and Ri = 0.3 M . 4. Define slew rate. What is its significance? 5. Sketch the circuit of an op-amp employed as, a non-inverting zero crossing detector, alog with input and output waveforms. 6. List any four important application of a comparator. 7. What are the different stages of operation in a PLL? 8. A 10 bit A/D converter has an input voltage of - 10 to + 10 v. Find the resolution. 9. Draw the circuit of LM317 voltage regulator, give the expression for Vo. 10. What is the need for current limiting in regulated power supplies? PART B (5 x 16 = 80) 11 (a) (i) With neat sketches the various types of integrated resistors.
