POLITICAL STRUCTURE Constitution was defined by Justice Malcolm as the written instrument enacted by direct action of the people

e by which the fundamental powers of the government are established , limited and defined, and by which those powers are distributed among the several departments for their safe and useful exercise for the benefit of the body politic. The Philippine Constitution Establishes and defines the power of the three branches of the government: o Executive Branch o Legislative Branch o Judicial Branch Four Regular Philippine Constitution o Malolos Constitution o 1935 Constitution o 1973 Constitution o 1987 Constitution o 1987 Constitution

The present political structure of the Philippines was defined by the 1987 Constitution. It provides that the Philippines is a democratic and republican state where sovereignty resides in the people and all government authority emanates from them (Art. II, sect. 1).
