Butch Cassidy's San Miguel Valley Bank Robbery


Butch Cassidy was one of the craziest guys to go on a robbing spree in United States. He hogged the limelight for looting trains and ranches along a carefully constructed web of hideouts known as the Outlaw Trail. He was also famous for abstaining from killing people. His biggest haul was on June 24, 1889 at the San Miguel Valley Bank in Telluride. He and his associates made off with $20,00,$ which earned him the legendary status of an elusive robber.

The Great Train Robbery


The Great Train Robbery has to be one of the most famous heists in the world. The burglars lured a money-laden train into stopping at a fake signal, and subsequently looted $74 million. The highlight of this heist was that no guns were used during the heist! Few robbers were caught, but the elusive Ronnie Biggs was eventually captured in Brazil and he later gained fame as a pop culture icon.

Central Bank of Iraq Heist


Saddam Hussein's craving for monetary supremacy reached new heights when his son, Qusay, led a bunch of men with tractor-trailers to the Central Bank of Iraq, and looted $1 billion! This Heist was carried right in the middle of the night, and $650 million of the billion was stashed in the walls of Hussein's palace. What became of the remaining $350 million remains a mystery.

The Banco Central Burglary


This bada#$ robbery was painstakingly planned such that a team of robbers tunneled over 250 feet to a bank's vault and escaped with $70 million. They pretented to be in the landscaping business and expertly dug out a tunnel in three months. The thorough professionalism is visible from the sophisticated lighting and an airconditioning system in the said tunnel!

Valerio Viccei's Knightsbridge Security Deposit Robbery


The robbery that tops this list was executed by Valerio Viccei, a playboy and a high roller, who already made a mark in the Italian robbery circuit. Viccei and a group of accomplices pretended to rent a safe deposit box at a bank and eventually managed to overpower the employees and guards, and took off with 60 million pounds worth of valuables and cash!
