MAYOR SPANO AND YONKERS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO HOST 29TH ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT TUESDAY, AUGUST 7 Precincts

Across Yonkers to Host Events in Local Neighborhoods


YONKERS, NY August 2, 2012 Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and the Yonkers Police Department today announce its participation in the 29th Annual National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. National Night Out involves over 15,000 communities throughout the nation and is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, and strengthen police-community relations. Yonkers local National Night Out will be held at its four police precincts across the city from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Residents in Yonkers are asked to spend the evening outside with neighbors and the Yonkers Police Department. Each Yonkers Police Department Precinct in conjunction with local community organizations, residents groups, and businesses will host individual events that evening. Precinct events will include police demonstrations, childrens activities, entertainment and food. National Night Out is a great opportunity for our residents to interact with their local police and community, said Mayor Spano. Yonkers has the greatest police department in the country and these events will remind our neighbors that our police are here to serve and keep our streets and families safe. The Yonkers locations are: 1st Precinct Andrus Park Central Park Avenue next to the Will Library 2nd Precinct Coyne Park 777 McLean Avenue (by Old Jerome Avenue) 3rd Precinct Lincoln Park South Broadway at McLean Avenue 4th Precinct Riverdale Avenue (Main Street to Hudson Street) National Night Out 2012 is expected to be the largest event ever.
