Concentrated know-how
Today, the name Rexroth is associated first and foremost with leading-edge drive, control and motion technologies united under the common umbrella of an internationally established corporation. With a workforce of around 25,700 and a presence in over 80 countries, we look back on a corporate history whose success is borne on three reliable pillars: Tradition, innovation and know-how.
While the history of Robert Bosch GmbH took off with the establishment of its Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Engineering in Stuttgart in 1886, the Rexroth family in Elsavatal provided evidence of its pioneering spirit as long ago as 1795 with the production of iron hammers. By doing so it was laying the solid foundations for what has now become an internationally operating company at the cutting edge of technological progress.
Bosch made a name early on in the up-and-coming automotive industry as an innovative manufacturer of high-voltage magnetos and spark plugs, while Rexroth became established as a mould-breaking iron foundry specializing in the manufacture of iron hammers. It was with their entry into the field of hydraulics in 1952/1953 that the first parallels became evident between the two corporations. Since May 1, 2001, the know-how of the Bosch Automationstechnik business unit and the former Mannesmann Rexroth AG has been concentrated under one roof: Bosch Rexroth AG.
