PHOTOSHOP TECHNIQUES

Create perfect monotones with Adjustment Layers

1. Remove the colour Open before.jpg and create a new Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer. Move the Saturation slider so it has a value of - 00, and click OK. Create a Levels

Adjustment Layer, hold down Alt and centre the Shadow slider until you see clipping in the sky, then ease back slightly. 2. Erase the detail Repeat step one on the Highlights slider, then use the Mid-tone slider to lighten/darken to your liking. Click the Layer Mask and, using a black, softedge brush at 200 with an Opacity of 50, erase the Layer on the foreground. Reduce Brush Opacity as you near the sky/land edges.

3. Build up the image Create further Levels Adjustment Layers for each area of the image and use the Layer Mask to remove the effect from the other areas. Once you have completed this, click on the background Layer and use the Dodge and Burn Tools with an exposure of 4% to lift or burn detail.
