Starting a small business in Bournemouth

Which methods you have chosen?

We are interested in setting up a Café near BBSI. It serves coffee

and simple food, eg. sandwiches. Before starting the business, we

have to organize research and to collect information through survey

and from the internet.

What kind of data you will be collecting?

The data we will be collecting are based on marketing research and

our rivals. For marketing research, we will use Primary Research

which the information does not exist so that we have to give

Questionnaires. We are going to gather information about what

kinds of style and atmosphere do customers prefer, what kinds of

food and beverage do they interested in, how much do they spend

on meals, what are their meal time and how long do they spend on

eating. All questions are quantitative based on simple numeric data

and representative sample.

As well as, we also use Secondary Research via the internet which

data is already existed. Details we are going to search about are our
rivals around our shop, rents, suppliers, licenses, insurance, and

security

Why you have chosen these methods?

The reasons of giving surveys for marketing research are we can get

exactly what we have to know, details should be reliable and valid,

also, respondents only spend few minutes to fill in the survey. If we

collect those information by secondary research, it might not be

exactly what we need and not up to date or not valid. Although

Primary Research is time-consuming, we can get better quality

information.

The reasons of using Secondary Research for getting information

about rental, our rivals, etc, are it is easy to collect and cheap. We

can easily find feedbacks about a restaurant on websites. It allows

comparison over a wide range of source. We will go to the websites

of suppliers, licenses provider and insurance company to get valid

and updated details.
