To speed up the investment realization process, Hidayat said that the Ministry is currently forming a joint team with Investment Coordinating Board (BPKM) and the Trade Ministry (Kemendag). "The team will hold a regular meeting with Foxconns technical team. We hoped that Foxconn would be able to assemble their product this December and by July (2013) would be able to market them," he explained. First stage investment of building Foxconns factory will need a 50 hectares area. The factory will be located near Jakarta and Banten. While the second stage and third stage will need 200 hectares each. Hidayat added, these three locations (stage I-III) could be located in different province, but still in Java Island. Taiwan-based Foxconn Project has an investment value of nearly 10 billion of US dollar in 5-10 years range. According to plan, the project will materialize in three steps. Storewithoutstore, thefutureofmodernretail
SURABAYA, kabarbisnis.com: Limitation of time and mobility makes practicality as the most considered aspect for modern retail consumers to choose their shopping place. Modern retail that can offer practicality is predicted to be able to survive in the middle of competition among big players. Indonesian Retailers Association (Aprindo) Chairman Abraham Ibnu said to kabarbisnis.com that there is a new concept of modern retail, which emphasizes practicality, soon will be booming in Indonesia. "The concept is Store without Store," said Abraham when he was met at Monday (13/8/2012). He explained that the store without store concept more referred to online shop concept where buyer and seller do not need to meet in a physical store. The seller only needs to display their product at a digital media like websites, social network account or using pamphlet given to prospective buyers. Consumers only need to make order using telephones, emails, or sending messages through social networking media. He said such concept actually already common in developed countries where their citizens only have little free time after work. "In Indonesia especially in big cities like Jakarta and Surabaya, the level of traffic jam on the roads also gives its own market for modern retails to expand their wing in such business," said Abraham. In addition to Store without Store concept, he believe that what is currently becoming a trend in modern retail business is Convenience Store or retail shops which also provides a place to hangout. Abraham mentioned, the trend of transition to Convenience Store already start booming in a couple of areas especially in big cities like Jakarta and Bali. Some of the major retail players began infiltrating the market with foreign Convenience Store brands. For example, PT Modern Indonesia Tbk, which manages the 7-Eleven networks, and PT Midi Utama Indonesia Tbk, which has began to enter this business by cooperating with a Japanese brand, Lawson. The development of retail business in East Java currently increases quite rapidly. Until the end of the year, modern retail business in East Java predicted to have a turnover of 15 trillion. This number has increased from last year turnover, which recorded about 13 trillions. Modern retail store network in East Java includes 55 hypermarket outlets, 120 supermarket outlets, 1400 minimart outlets, and 30 outlets of nation-wide networked department store.

B3 and non-B3 waste are treated based on 3R principle (reduce, reuse, recycle). For example, we recycle material reject spills so it can be used again in the production process. In fact, we use oil contaminated gloves for alternative fuel, Rudi explained. The company will also implement modern city waste management to utilize city waste as alternative energy. The promoted concept called waste to zero. In this concept, the company will utilize city waste, mainly from the two towns where the factory activity mostly carried out, Gresik and Tuban, East Java. Volume of waste in Gresik was recorded at about 650 cubic meters or around 217 tons per day. the waste volume in Tuban was recorded at about 250 cubic meters or around 83 tons per day. The city waste will be processed into alternative energy, compost, and recycled materials. The company will take the alternative energy, said Rudi. As for greenhouse gas reduction, it will be conducted by developing a project called Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). The CDM project held in Semen Gresik and Semen Tonasa. As for Semen Padang, they held a project called Waste Heat Gas Recovery Power Generation (WHPRG) that process wasted heat gas to electricity. Semen Padang could generate additional electrical power at the amount of 8 MVA, he said. Environmental management commitment deliver sweet achievement as Semen Gresik received Green PROPER award from the Environment Ministry (KLH) since 2007 until 2011. PROPER (Company Performance Rating Assessment Program) is a regular program held by KLH to encourage corporate compliance in environmental management. There are five ratings in PROPER assessment, i.e., black, red, blue, green, and gold. The highest is gold. Assessment indicators are: the prevention of environmental damage and pollution; the countermeasures taken in environmental damage and pollution; and the recovery actions of environmental damage and pollution. Rudi said that the achievement of Green PROPER award shows that Semen Gresik environmental management has exceeded the required aspects (beyond compliance). This year we hope to get Gold PROPER, the highest performance award in environmental management, said Rudi.
