Procedure for running cargo booster pump

STARTING 1. Check if pump shaft is rotating freely. 2. Check that the bearing housing is filled with oil up to of the sight glass. 3. Check bulkhead seal cup filled with grease till level marking. 4. Ensure main circuit breaker is switched on. 5. Set cargo lines for discharge till manifold. 6. Crack open booster outlet valve. 7. Re- heater discharge valve is high pressure manifold line valve. 8. Open sea water inlet and outlet for cargo re- heater. 9. Pipe cool down to be carried out by introducing condensate from any of the compressors. 10.When shore ready to receive cargo open manifold valve and start cargo pump and pass liquid through the booster pump. 11.Ensure sufficient liquid in the line prior to starting booster pump. 12.Start booster pump by pressing start button in motor room observe amperage. 13.Adjust booster pump discharge to required rate. 14.Temperature of cargo can be adjusted by using the heater bypass valve. Max cargo re-heater liquid cargo flow should be 500 m3 /min. STOPPING 15.Stop the booster pump. 16.Stop the cargo pumps. 17.Close manifold valves as per shore instructions. 18.Shut the booster pump discharge valve. 19.Drain cargo re-heater by opening into no.2 tank through condensate line. 20.Drain cargo line using as the case may be. 21.Switch of main circuit breaker of cargo booster pump.
