Tasks / Evidence -----Discussion

Stage 0
Not much knowledge

I dont know any character types in stories/ narratives. I can identify some character types (stereotypical characters) in narratives. QUESTION: What character types do you know? I can match several character types to their description and find examples to illustrate. I can explain the roles these characters usually play in narrative EXTEND YOUR LEARNING: Can you explain to your partner and make notes on: what role some character types play in a narrative? ...how they interact with one another? how they drive the narrative forward? Can you find examples from other films/stories and justify your ideas? and apply my knowledge to some of the characters in Pans Labyrinth. I can also discuss Ofelias role in the films narrative. EXTEND YOUR LEARNING: Can you explain to your partner and make notes on: why Ofelia is an unusual hero? who might be the villain, the blocker and the mentor? who would be the prize (often, its the Princess character in stories)*? whether we can apply all the character types to the films characters? Why/Why not*? I can apply my knowledge to imagine and predict how character types and the conventions are likely to develop the narrative (i.e. what is likely to happen next, how, and why?)
