Students/Staff Learning

1. On August 21st and 22nd the NewBrook Faculty will be trained in AIMSweb. 2. Grades 5-6 will take Spanish during the 2012-2013 school year. This will be provided through Rosetta Stone, a web based foreign language program that students will be able to access year round. Teachers will be getting trained in Rosetta Stone on October 4th. This will be a 2 hour webinar. 3. PBIS will be rolled out this fall introducing the students and the community to the Core Values. 4. NewBrook did not meet AYP for Math this year. (discussion)

Policy/Regulations 1. I have created a link on the NewBrook website to the Windham Central School Board site. 2. The Student/Parent Handbook will be sent home the week before school starts. The handbook will have some revisions to reflect all the work we have done as a school in regard to PBIS. The Testing Statement and Mission Statement have also been added.

Building and Grounds 1. The roof was completed on July 27th. 2. The handicap and emergency lines have also been applied. 3. The halls of NewBrook have been painted to reflect the school colors that the students voted on last year. 4. Several classrooms got painted.

5. All of the rubber baseboards will be replaced in the halls and in the gym. 6. The woods around the playground and the gazebo have been trimmed back for safety reasons. 7. A new fence was put up in front of the school.

Enrollment and Staffing 1. Joining the NewBrook team this year as a special education teacher instead of a para educator will be Brady Andersen. Cathy Robinson will be with us two days a week instead of one day to further assist us with our technology upgrades.

2. As of Friday July 25, 2012. We currently have 148 students enrolled. This may change before the school year starts if any students move in or out of the district.
